Heard rumblings that there was mutual interest a couple of weeks ago but figured that was Fickell posturing for another raise/extension. Shocking if true, thought Leonhard was a done deal.

Sources: Wisconsin making push to hire Luke Fickell as coach

I feel like Fickell could get a much better job than Wisconsin if he wanted to move on from Cincinnati...

So the question is where does Leonhard go? HC at another program, or a DC somewhere?

Cincinnati would be a perfect fit for Bill O’Brien.

BOB has done a great job at Alabama. I hope he stays there.

Not exactly an inspiring performance during his time as interim.

Yep. Figured he would only leave for Michigan or Ohio State. He could’ve had the ND job last year. Surprising that he is going to Wisconsin

And they are doing away with divisions so he can’t hide out in the west anymore

Good for Wisconsin. That’s a great hire. He must have been looking to get out of Cincinnati because there were strong rumors that if Kiffin left for Auburn, he was the prime target for Ole Miss and there was mutual interest

Potential sleeping giant, push-button annual top 15 OL.

Not really. Historically a bad program that’s had their best 20 year run in the last 20 years. You could argue they’ve overachieved. They never recruit in the top 30

Fickell needs to strike while the irons hot. He can’t wait around forever for those two jobs

maybe, but he's played at OSU, and coached in the state of Ohio his entire life, so all his ties and recruiting relationships are regional. similar to muschamp always bouncing around the SEC and never anywhere else

They never took recruiting seriously outside of picking up a RB off of the East Coast, rumors were that Paul Chryst left the recruiting department vacant for 7 months last year.

As quickly as this all went down, it seems like Fickell was the target all along and Leonhard's audition as interim HC didn't matter much.

Great get for the Badgers.
