Suntiger’s NCAA rule proposals.
1) Make ESD for early enrollees only.
2) Coaches can’t be hired until the Monday after Championship week.
3) ESD is Wednesday before Christmas.
4) Coaching salary cap.

They’ve lost their minds. Talking about something needs to be done about the timing of coaching searches. Like there needs to be controls on when coaches can leave and when they can be talked to by other schools. ITS A FREE MARKET!! Comparing it with the NFL where coaches can’t be spoken to until after the season is over. With recruiting that’s impossible.
Exactly.
If Fix wanted to hire Herbie do you think Herbie would wait until after the playoffs to start negotiating a deal?
It would be a restriction of trade to try and stop coaches from negotiating and leaving their schools.

This year's coaching searches are a unintended consequence of ESD being in mid-Dec. Move it until after the NCG and this issue corrects itself.

get rid of the early signing period. Have one in Feb and that’s it.
It's really this easy. Why did they add an ESD to begin with?

Signing period should last from after bowls until season begins. One season. Leave it open.

Here's what's crazy about all this: you don't have to sign. You get offered a scholarship, and then subsequently enroll. You get a scholarship.
LOI is voluntary. LOI means shite with transfer with no sit out. LOI means diddly when you can opt out not be eligible for the next level but sit out.
ESD, normal signing day, any signing day- don't mean shite and is only a mechanism for others to make money.
So a guy signs. You give him a NIL deal. He transfers to get a second NIL deal.
Without sitting out, the only enforceable part of a LOI and the only penalty for commitment... "signing" is nothing more than a branding move for multiple parties.

I actually think they do need to push ESD back a bit. Kids are making decisions with only half the information.
This makes so much sense if considering only football recruiting. The thing that makes it more complicated, as far as I can tell, is the deadline for college applications generally. Most college application deadlines are in December. If my son is trying to decide between football and maybe just pursuing academics at a dream school, December becomes pretty important.
I have no idea if this is the reasoning behind the timing. All I know is that my son is watching application deadlines right now.

Get rid of ESD. You would not see this movement so early if they didn't have to get on top of recruiting.

sitting out of a bowl game. What about that?

Push it back to February that will slow the firing of coaches in Mid season. P5 schools like LSU fires their coach puts pressure on other schools to pull the trigger early as well.
Woodward jumped ahead of the game so he could properly gage interest, and vet potential candidates.

They are correct! It isn't right to kids being recruited and to the families of the coaches!
It will still be a "FREE MARKET" as you so eloquently put it, the market just won't be as volatile as it is today! Kind of like the stock market, they put in those "curbs" for a reason. Doesn't mean it isn't a free market, just keeps things from getting out of control!

Never had a problem announcing a fake “Miles to Michigan” on game day before the SEC Championship game. That was 14 years ago. Silence until now…

They r right. Works for NFL, can work for NCAA.

The NCAA, like the government, destroy everything they touch.
