got damn thats asking a lot for any coordinator you hire. fact is since Les's background is offense we'll more than likely always have to go out and get a big name DC and they will continue to eventually leave for head jobs.

It is not uncommon for top DCs to move on / up. Sure, there are lots that stay for longer, but it is not uncommon that they move.
Like I said, if we can get at least two recruiting seasons out of him, I think that is a good thing.

Turnover hasn't hurt OU's offense at all, Chicken. In the last few years they've gone from Leach to Mike Mangino to Chuck Long to Kevin Sumlin.
Even if Walker is here for only a year or two, it'd be a great thing.

it would be 3 or more seasons before walker went else wheres.. that is IF it's walker.

I am not sure what schools are on Walker's short list of where he would like to coach, but I am guessing he will be listening every year.

Walker is in line to take a smaller job as is.
If he comes to LSU, it's because he's trying to improve his stock to land a bigger job. That likely won't happen overnight. I think he'd be here at least 2 years barring an unbelievable performance.

You can't count recruits because they are being recruited by multiple schools and not on campus. Most players will stay 4-5, but elite ones can and do leave after 3. Ideally, I'd like to keep this DC for 3 years, but if we loses him to a HC job, that speaks well of the program. As long as we remain competitive in assistant salaries , some highly qualified DC would be interested in coming here.

imo this would be a grandslam to get all 3 here. also if we keep pulling in big name dc's and they leave for head coach spots it says alot about LSU. also when we need a new head coach we could go get one of our old coaches if the have done well as a head coach

That formula has worked to the tune of 10 wins every year for Mack at Texas. I think that formula is exactly what LSU needs, considering the offensive minded HC we have. Keep bringing in top shelf DC's every two to three years. Could help us and not hurt us if you look at how our team lacked togetherness with two DC's that had been here for 4 years already. A change like this is refreshing for a program sometimes.
