I would much prefer Aranda. I actually think he's the candidate with the most long-term upside, so he's my #1.
Dias says he is the 3rd choice after Napier. But he has not proven himself as a recruiter yet. So not all are sold on him

he will probably finish at worst 10-2 and win Big Ten Coach of the year. If they finish 11-1 he wins National Coach of the Year.
hold on a min. lets make sure he does that first as that is a tall task. he still has
mich
osu
penn state
purdue
maryland
left on the schedule.
if he goes 11-1 for sure he should be looked at very very very fricking hard, same as 10-2. but calm down on thinking they auto go 3-2 in that stretch.
could easily be 2-3 and honestly have just as good of a chance as going 1-4 as they do 4-1.

Tucker will check all of the boxes for Woody and LSU at that point apparently.
yea well might want to hold the frick up as you are full of fricking shite with your 10-2 at worst comment.
im ok with tucker but this absolutely is a job interview as he doesnt have the resume of any of the other candidates.
would rather napier over him honestly and couple others too.

He said if he had to bet on it, that it would be Tucker but he would not be surprised if it were Riley or Tomlin just because of the way Scott works.

Tier 2/3 already on the radar …

They didn't spend 17 million to hire a shot in the dark. We did that 5 years ago. This is Woodward's hire, not Tate and Williams.

Well, if so, let the melt ensue
Because it’s gonna be melt city
And unfortunately also stir a racial conversation that doesn’t need to be stirred because some will absolutely assert that it was a diversity hire pushed by Tate
That conversation will divide and destroy our fanbase. You cannot make a hire that will inevitably do that.
depends if he finishes 11-1 most will be good with it. 8-4 and yea its fricking melt season. let him go 1-4 to finish season and he gets hired .............................................. not enough hampsters or chickens in the world to keep the site from crashing

Ok. That’s not what people who know are saying at all. But we will see

Not a great hire but I won't melt over it.

That ruins any credibility this mystery man may otherwise have.

if Napier was a possibility
I will say this. Tucker isn’t at the bottom of my list. Franklin (AKA the actual second coming of Les Miles) holds that spot down.

Tucker will check all of the boxes for Woody and LSU at that point apparently.
Well, MSU still has to play U of M, Ohio State and Penn State. They should win the two against Maryland and Purdue, but "at worst" is dropping 4 of those 5 games. If LSU hires Tucker now and he drops 3 or 4 of those games, it is going to be a difficult situation for Woodward to manage.
We can get someone better than Tucker. We should not settle this time.

Fun fact: Mel Tucker, a head coach with a record of 14-12, makes $5.5 million annually at Michigan State.
So LSU would wind up paying a .500 coach more than $6 million a year to coach here.
