Honestly, I kinda expected this. O always talks mason up more than others in regards to defense.

Wouldn’t be shocked at all if this is his guy.

Um....did you see Vanderbilt's defenses under Mason? It would not compliment a high powered offense. It may work for a little while, but eventually teams will just blow past you. He can interview him if he wants, but that better not be his only call like he did with Pelini.

He just turned 51 and is coming off of a 7 year tenure as an SEC Head Coach. He got hired as a HC in the SEC as a 44 year old. He got hired as a DC 8 years ago as a 43 year old. He was a Co-DC as a 42 year old.

He was a Broyles Finalist in his early 40's. Dumbass.

His defenses were shite at vandy. Spare me the fricking talent gap. James Franklin was an OC and was able to crush it there.

Mason had ok defenses 8 years ago but hasn't called since then.

Raymond is 51. I'd much rather give him the position then Mason.

I'd take Mason as a position coach solely.

The reason I like him, the rantards don't.

He has the skins on the wall. All on here typing we can do better, we can also do worse.

Does LSU have the same caliber of athlete as Vandy?

Kind of want Marcus Freeman, BUT he is not going to leave Cincy while Luke Finkell is still there.

Nicely stated.

All that said, this hire would be a ground rule double (runner has to go back to third). We need a home run hire.

Freeman would be my first choice, but I guess mason wouldn’t be that bad of a choice imo. Just hope O doesn’t frick things up again

You are an analog player in a digital world. He's a 4-4 with 4 Grand Slams hire. Without question.

He's proven he can get it done. Would be a hugely stabilizing force for this program. To say nothing of his ability to recruit. The guy put together bowl teams at Vandy recruiting with no natural base in Nashville.

This reminds me why I go months without contributing here.

I think he is a good pick. Stable, knows how to coach, knows how to lead young men.

It’s Vandy.

The real question mark is how much is coaching and how much is simply that Vandy will never have the talent needed to have an elite defense

He did have a too 22 Scoring defense there in 2015

Shhh, these kind of people like to blame every injustice on the color of someone's skin.

He’s not my first choice but it could be much worse.

It’s statistically impossible to be any worse than Bo.

Wait, so he's penalized for actually not winning at Vandy?

Does this mean that as soon as a guy takes the Vandy job, since he won't win (can't win), he is no longer a good coach?

I'd rather this guy than some shiny flavor of the month.
