The amount of guys that:
Have coached a playoff game
Are possibly available
Limits the search a good bit wouldn't you say?

List all the coaches that have coached in a playoff game. A lot of them don't even coach anymore.

Tell me your list of playoff coaches available

Most of the candidates on our board that haven’t coached a playoff game didn’t have the roster lane kiffin had last year. Not making the playoffs with that roster is inexcusable

The number of coaches one can hire with "Guaranteed success":
:crickets:
Based on your reasoning, we can hire no one.

Let’s see the list of playoff coaches that LSU needs to go after. I’ll give you Dan Lanning but who else would be available?

Why should having coached a playoff game previously be a requirement? Most of the best hires in recent history across college and the NFL don't meet that prerequisite

Not reading all that. Hop aboard the train before it’s too late

For one, didn’t we just get done firing what was seen a slam dunk hire big name coach in Brian Kelly?
We finally went for the CEO type and not a "character" and it failed. Time to get back to the formula. Lane is a "character" coach and you either love him or hate him but he could be "our" guy.

He arguably had the best roster in recent ole miss memory last year
That roster was ranked 20th on 247 talent composite last year. This century only one team has win a natty that was not ranked in the top 10 for talent and that was Michigan at 14.
You just made the case on why he might consider coming here. LSU roster talent has never been outside the top 10 since Saban arrived.
Ole Miss does not and probably will not ever have the depth it takes to win a natty.

Respectfully theirs no way you watched that ole Miss roster last year and felt they’ve here 20th ranked team in the country regardless of what the composite says. Their d-line was nasty( pretty sure they led the country in sacks ) , they had a first round pick at qb ,loaded at wr. OL was suspect but they were loaded everywhere else. They spent more money in the portal that year than anyone it absolutely was an all in year

They had some great players no doubt, but not the total package or depth to win a championship.
You have to have a full team to get through the sec to the playoffs.

You people are too focused on specific things instead of looking at the coaches
You wouldn't have hired Nick Saban from MS with your criteria.
You wouldn't have hired:
Kirby Smart
Curt Cignetti
Dan Lanning
Your criteria has us hiring Dabo and Brian Kelly
Look past your myopic world view. Think about what makes a great coach and figure out what guys have what it takes. How hard do they work? How relentlessly do they recruit? Are they an expert on one side of the ball? Have they uncovered coaching talent where no one else was looking? Have they developed guys that weren't heavily recruited into star players?

I mean their in the playoffs if they don’t lose at home to a god awful Kentucky team

Every coach in history has bad losses.
If that’s the criteria for the next hire, no bad losses, good luck
Kiffin is one of the best ever on the offense side of the ball. He competes with less talent and that’s not up for debate.
He would be a very solid hire if he wants a real chance to win a natty. He will never do it at ole Miss. they will never have the depth to win it all.
He would immediately have better players here and within 2 years he would have a roster better than he will ever have at Ole Miss.
If he can win like he does with less talent, I think he would be good here.
I think the same of Heupel, Lanning. Drinkwitz(although I’m not a fan of his)
Heupel and Drinkwitz both win with less depth than the big boys.
