He will be successful at that level.
Mullen is a coaster. If this were pre-Odom and investment UNLV, I'd totally agree.
But it seems like the admin and boosters are expecting more out of the program and want someone to elevate it.
Building a program up is not Mullen's strength at all. He's better at taking a middling program with zero expectations and getting the most out of it. Getting a sense that's not what UNLV is looking for now.

Good lord. Did Mullen have sex with your wife? Mom? Both?!!!
Despite his short comings, he's still the most successful coach at both Florida and Mississippi St over the last (nearly) 15 years. As for his "show cause", it was a one year slap on the wrist for level 2 and 3. You make it sound like he was running a sex trafficking ring with HS players.
The good news is UNLV won't have the level of expectations Florida, or even Mississippi St has for their HC. He can hire someone to be his recruiter which, in many ways, is easier than it used to be. Previouslly he had to convince guys to come to Starkville or Gainesville with little more than his salesmen efforts. Now, he can just offer them a nice pay-day. There are tougher places to convince an 18-22 year old man, with the promise of a 5-6 figure "salary", to move to than Las Vegas.
UNLV has had three winning seasons in 20 years. I don't think anyone involved is terrified of the thought of losing.

Often is more important to success on the football field than this
The further irony in your personal manifesto against Mullen is the mention of Urban Meyer. There may not be a guy in football with less integrity or professionalism than him

Mullen a Rebel. Never thought I'd hear it.

Why can't these guys just. be satisfied with a little less money and just remain in their less stressful job as commentators?

I’ll miss him and Barrie on Thursday night games. They’re a fun duo

I still do not understand why Miss State did not make a hard run at Mullen last year.

They got complacent and there was a lot of meh whatever with Mullen towards the end.
They knew he was going to greener pastures, but weren’t really upset about it, especially once Leach arrived.

I'm pretty sure our POS president blocked it. I don't know entirely, but I'm pretty sure there was some preliminary talks between boosters and Mullen.

I was shocked he's still only 52.

Dan is one step closer of fulfilling his destiny of becoming a Vegas elvis impersonator

He can always go back to that. How stressful is living in Vegas and coaching UNLV?
He's hiring Zack Arnett as DC, after he was supposedly going to be the DC for App State.

Mullen already gave 9 years of his life to Starkville, Mississippi. That is a lot.
When you figure in the lack of stability since Leach’s passing and the new NIL era, it would not be a fun Part 2
UNLV is going to be fun as hell for him

He's going to get a Vegas residency at Circus Circus performing a "Cousin Eddie" One Man Show.
