Over a long period. I would throw Mike Gundy in the mix as well!

Always liked Mike Gundy, but I think we go with a more proven retread or some young up and comer...

To your point I think if you go into this thinking 2022 it’s a mistake. If so Mel tucker is your man. L keeping in mind all the competition and if playoffs are 12 teams I would assume to get auto bud a P5 school needs to be top 8. Autos for G5 and others consuming other 4 spots. Then a very successful Lsu coach would have us in playoffs 3 outta 5 seasons

Consistency over a long period is what we had when Miles was here. To be honest, idk what makes this fan base happy. Winning a lot of titles would be amazing, but is that really attainable? Sure there's 1 coach that makes it happen, or let me say, team that makes it happen within different decades at that. They are a different animal.

People need to really figure out what they want. And be real with what they can actually expect.

I think you're probably right, Chicken. If the goal is to have a coach named before the early signing period, that is going to eliminate "White Whale" guys like Lincoln Riley. It appears that it is going to be what most on the Rant consider Tier 2 guys. But, then again, who knows! SJW plays it close to the vest and no one is going to know until he is ready. All this speculation and unconfirmed "sauces" sure do help pass the time, especially with the season unfolding like it is.

Who says it eliminates him? You still have a month before the early signing period. OU has 4 maybe 5 games before that. If Ou slips in 1 or even 2 games, then OU is out of the playoff picture. Riley clearly would clearly be in the picture at the point

Imagine prioritizing one recruiting class over the best coaching option.

I would like to believe the coach is far more important. Just my opinion though. And for those who worry about waiting too long and not getting your top choice. Wouldn't a guy like Napier still be there? Unless he's USC bound?

My thinking is with the talent Gundy can get here- he will have a stable winning program with constant shots at the playoff and title. He has a winning program each year at OSU so he would be just as good as any other candidate!

Which is why I want Aranda. He is stable, prepared, smart, has his guys ready to play, and of all the names I feel would be most likely to stick around for 10 years.

And he would win!!

A 21st century offense with a competitive defense and good in-game decision making by the coaching staff.

Not sure I want him but LSU could do worse.

My issues may be driven by 2011 when OPSU shite the bed. Beat Iowa State and he has the privilege of getting trounced by LSU. The tigers get 1 more Natty and solidify the 2011 LSU Tigers as one of the best teams ever (they were but don't get the credit because of the mulligan).

He's 2-14 vs Oklahoma. 8-9 vs Texas. Also gives me pause but he is effectively at the Big 12 version of A&M I guess.
