Must be some Big Names throwing their hat in the ring! Says it's a Process, must mean not going to be a quick decision on the choice.

quote:

Coach Ed Orgeron was on ESPN Radio’s Off the Bench program yesterday and spoke about the search for a new defensive coordinator. “There’s been a phenomenal response,” he said. “We have a big selection of defensive coordinators. We’re going through the list right now. Obviously, it’s going to be ’bring the best to LSU,’ No. 1, and No. 2, ‘Be a great fit with our culture.’ There’s a lot of guys that want to be here and we’re looking at some great guys… It’s going to be a process.”

quote:

Asked specifically about Bo Pelini as a candidate, Orgeron said: “Obviously, there are a lot of guys that will be top candidates. I don’t want to say nothing yet until we finalize any deal with anybody. Obviously, Bo is somebody that I know very well and have high respect for. He’s a great defensive coordinator. He did a great job at LSU.”

Sounds like we won't know for awhile. Wish we had one before signing day

Big selection doesn't necessarily equal big names.

Seeing that it's LSU, a National Championship winner, Louisiana is a recruiting goldmine, and the last guy earned $2.5 M per year, I'd place bets there are some very BIG names as candidates.

This is one of the plusses of the early signing period, imo. You have key assistants usually leaving in January, right before what used to be the only signing period.

These days, however, you're just putting finishing touches on the class and don't have as much pressure to name that big DC prior to first Wednesday in Feb.

I’m sure it will all work out fine. But the wait is giving me anxiety.

Hopefully that applies to the Passing Game Coordinator vacancy as well.

Is this similar to "phones ringing off the hook" when it comes to recruits?

And big name doesn't necessarily equal great coordinator. See Brady, Joe.

What are you bitching about? There’s no way for you (or anyone off the street) to know if/how many recruits were blowing up the phone

I saw this write up on Dandy Don earlier. Good information, for what little information it actually is.

Personally I'm happy that Woodward and O are taking their time to make the right choice. If candidates really are lining up, let them battle it out and choose the best of the best at the end.

I mean what is he supposed to say? No one is answering our calls and can't find anyone? This is coach speak for you'll know when we know. I mean who wouldn't want to be apart of such a great championship program? In O we trust he's earned the benefit of the doubt
