Everyone is saying “Freeze on deck” and I’d hire his arse in a heartbeat, but isn’t there some hold up with SEC, blah, blah, blah...

Why does everyone act like Tennessee is still this great job? The state of Tennessee is not talent rich in high school football. Tennessee has to hit other states hard, and that’s harder to do than it was 20-25 years ago. Georgia and Alabama have their acts together in recruiting, which makes Tennessee’s recruiting tasks a lot harder. It’s just not that great of a job if Georgia and Alabama are doing well.

Tennessee used to be bottom 2 or 3 in the SEC in local P5 football talent produced. However, that is actually changing due to the population growth in the middle of the state. The private schools and a couple of public schools in the Memphis area have also started putting out some decent talent. It’s not amazing, but the state is a lot better than it used to be. You can at least build depth with in-state guys now.
UT used to be the biggest spender on recruiting in the SEC by far. I remember when Saban was at LSU, we rose to number two one season and they still doubled our budget. They have not kept that up over the years and it’s really hurting them.

The reason Schiano would fit in due to that The facilities are already set! Then you see how easy Tennessee were getting pretty good recruits from all those fired HCs! Even Dooley was getting good too! So all Schiano was needed to do was hired good assistants and that would have been really scary! Trust me Rutgers will be good in a couple of year and reason not right away due to bad history and no good facilities and that is now just started being built. Will take time to get the facilities done.

The biggest negative with the UT job is working for Phil Fulmer. You can trust that guy about as far as you can throw him.

The wheels were falling off at Rutgers when he left last time. Once Ray Rice went pro, they went downhill fast. I don’t think he will hit the same level there this time.
