The 44 and counting upvotes on this so far.. are the same idiots who thought Pelini was a good idea.

Goodness.

He fits what they want. It has been widely known they want a minority as a DC. Fans like the OP will melt for some reason but he would prob do a good job here.
"Reserving" a job for a particular race Is abhorrent.

Playing the racial quota BS in the SEC West is suicide.

How about hiring the best person available regardless of skin color.

Yall think Saban is doing that? Frick no. He's not being told by the AD to play the PC nonsense.......

I’m a big Nielson fan, I’d be cool with Nielson/Strong Co-DCs, giving Nielson primary play calling duties, just don’t know if we have enough $ to get both.

He absolute was. More than a decade ago. On a team run by Urban Meyer. With Mattison as Co-DC, the same guy at Ohio State right now.

This is what you get with coach O. Btw, these same people clamoring for Strong also wanted to keep Pelini and Linehan because we won our last two games.

Agree, especially not modern offenses with NFL talent. The best you can hope for is to slow them a little so you can outscore them. The NFL is sadly now our only hope for defense.

Oh and consistency is the word you were looking for :)

This is off the bench throwing shite on the wall hoping it sticks. I doubt he's a serious candidate. He maybe be on the list but at the bottom if they strike out on everyone else.

Perhaps. But Ausberry did say today on the show that "there were coaches on teams that are still playing, college and pro" that they are looking at. That starts to somewhat narrow the field.

In college there are only two teams still playing. Perhaps LSU could be looking to take Alabama's DC, but that doesn't seem likely (Alabama fans want him gone). I doubt OSU's DC's are candidates, so that leaves Strong (Bama analyst). Particularly if the rumors that LSU wants a black DC are accurate.

I'm not saying he would be a good or bad hire. But if the search is still looking at teams playing you can start to decipher who the candidates might be

The melting that is taking place b/c OTB "mentioned" Strong is somewhere between laughable and sad. Every day there is a new name and the melting starts... it's like drama is the drug of choice around here, lmao

What y'all should be more upset about is the fact that Pelini was known to be fired for at least 60 days and they really didn't have much of a plan. CEO tells the world that Freeman was his guy (which is not smart for multiple reasons)..... he could've interviewed Freeman over a month ago and maybe wouldn't have competed with anyone for him; but regardless he lost on Freeman and from all accounts it looks like he didn't have another guy. Sorry but this is not how you run a $150M+ football (business) program.

So they think that he has been rehabilitated in the Saban clinic and is good to go

I agree with everything you said. But we don't have Saban in case you didn't notice. We have a coach who is stubborn and hard headed and steps all over his dick all the time so we have to make race related hires to mend fences with the players.

Freeman is a climber. There is no way he would've accepted a job early, without waiting to see what else opens up.

Charlie is a solid coach. I'd much rather him over Boom or Steele

That's just great. Let's don't hire the best DC available, let's hire the best DC with black skin. This crap is so tiresome.

Strong would be a extremely lazy hire and would be O's waterloo.
