Is Les in a position now where he can't hire Tenuta? Wouldn't that just underscore how much he fricked this up last year?

consider for just one moment...
Miles gets absolutely burned by "leaked" info this time last year, and has vowed to keep everything on the vest this time. He has his DC, but the DC has asked not to announce, whether still coaching for bowl, or wants time to talk to others being considered for def. staff who are still coaching, etc. This coincides with Miles' desire to save face for his current assts who will be ultimately replaced, and keeping his decisions private. He realizes that assembling an elite def staff is far more important than to win a 2nd tier bowl game.
Don't you find it ironic that Chavis has interviewed for Clemson, but not taken the job when we haven't heard of other candidates (at least I haven't)? Coach O has a great offer in Tenn, but hasn't taken that job either?
Koenning is a done deal to K state...I think he was waiting for the "coach in waiting" offer to join the DC offer from his mentor, Snyder.
Tenuta is the wild card.
EITHER WAY, TO TRULY BELIEVE THAT MILES GIVES A GOOD shite WHAT WE THINK OR WHEN WE THINK IT IS SUPREMELY ARROGANT OR IGNORANT ON OUR PART. HE IS THE 2007 NC COACH AND HAS EARNED THE RIGHT TO WAIT AS LONG AS HE DAMN WELL PLEASES. HE KNOWS WHAT IS AT STAKE...HE KNOWS THIS IS A DEFINING HIRE FOR HIM.
Cut him some slack, giving the benefit of the doubt, and for just once, trust the guy to do a good job.

But can we at least leak the news we are getting a new DC?
Last I heard, getting a new DC is absolute

everyone makes mistakes...the difference in winners/losers is in how quick they recognize the mistake and move to get it fixed. needless to say, he's on the clock

Chicken- honestly we should sticky this thing on the rant and this board. Makes the most sense of any post I've read in a while.

Possible that the D cood. told Miles he doesn't want his name associated with what will happen to LSU in the bowl game and to wait till after the bowl to announce him as the new D cood.

1. The defense played, not poorly, but terrible and flat out gave up. LM made no decisive action to correct the problem this season, and he still hasn't.
2. Right after the Arkansas game, I wanted LM to name a new DC within the week to send a message that he is taking action to correct the problem. That the product on the field was totally unacceptable. I wanted to see fire and what I got was "we are going to fix it."
3. Now that the timing of being fired up has passed, I'd like a new DC before the BG, not because of his new package, but because hopefully LM has hired a new DC who will put fire in the defense. If that defense went into the bowl game and played with reckless abandonment, knocking heads and flying all over the field to make a play, then that would be awesome.
4. Saban did the same exact thing Miles is doing now. Deciding when he wants to announce something on his own terms. Ah, maybe Christmas Day. Timing is everything, and if I have learned anything, decisions are never announced according to when the LSU fans' think the timing should be.
5. Finally, as far as I know, no new coaching position is available at this time. Did Les Miles ever say, "I am searching for a new Defensive Coordinator." He said something along the lines of "We'll have something by the BG." What that means, well, is up to anyone's interpretation.
Me, I don't have a clue. I just want my Tigers to play with fire, to play with pride, and to play to the best of their abilities. And even if they lose, but they play like that, then I can accept that.
But most of all, I just want to win, baby, win.

No it's not.

Maybe you should tell that to the seniors who came back this year because they wanted a shot to play for a shot t a nationaltittle. Miles lost the right to wait w by making the decision he made.

LM has earned the same rights he was given when he came to LSU. He is responsible to and for his team. And his decisions, or lack thereof, produced a 7-5 result. If I am a senior, there ain't no next season, and last season is history. All we got is today, and today ain't feelin' too good right now.

he lost the right to take his time to find the right person for the job because the seniors didn't win a championship this year??
