yeah and we knew we needed a new DC after the Florida game.

I don't see how being indecisive is going to help the quality of his hire. There are more benefits announcing the decision early than waiting too late like he did last season.

no way to know if he is being indecisive.

this is a huge hire for miles, and i for one hope he gets it right no matter what the time frame. (within reason of course)

They'll play about as good as the defense under a completely difference scheme that they've only practiced under for 2 weeks.

then we'll have hundreds of "WTF, why were the corners playing 10 yards of the WR? Why didn't we blitz more? Miles has really fricked us with this hire, this is as bad as Malleveto "

and that's just from Mudminnow

Time is not going to help him make a better decision necessarily was all I was saying there.

Why is it being indecisive and not thourough? Would you rather him just name someone now and settle, or wait a few more weeks and get the guy he thinks is the right coach to get LSU's defense where it belongs? How do you just ignore that huge aspect of this hire?

Miles = indecisive
Saban = thourough

Of course if Miles hired Chavis two weeks ago we would be complaining he jumped the gun with out seeing who else came available.

See I can laugh at myself.

I get the feeling something is already in place, like you supposed earlier in this thread.

I also think close to the vest is an understatement.

Shepherd's comments concerning no changes in the staff, and that he would be surprised to see any, just seem a bit outside of what I would expect a recruit (especially on the offensive side of the ball) to offer.

I doubt all things have been decided on and are obviously subject to change, but it would seem to me that some sort of a verbal agreement has taken place.

Rant - 3 weeks is not going to make a difference.. Stay focus and let the coaching changes wait until it happens.. No way is a team going to understand new defensive schemes in 3 weeks.. Changes will come... BE Patient!

we need to get a new man in here so that the D can spend every waking moment learning how to stop an offense we won't see again next year!!!!

LIke I've been saying, everyone wants to have a homerun hire now, but it's just not that easy and it may take a couple more weeks--if it does, I'd rather that than the alternative of settling.

well, they will have the Christmas holidays off as will, so I take that back. those 8 days of learning that new defense is going to have a major, major effect on how the defense is played next year.

You don't yank the other one completly and totally install yours, but you do start to introduce it.

I agree. I could give a frick less about the Peach Bowl if that means hiring a competent DC.

Everybody just needs to freaking relax. I am as anxious as the next guy, but if we went out and just hired Chavis and he sucked we'd all be critical of how Miles was not "thorough" enough.

He's looking at all of his options. I am sure the man knows what is going on. And did anyone notice we're not the only ones? Clemson still needs a DC, AU still needs a whole new staff.

Chill out. We've all heard the names being interviewed. They are all quality guys. There's is no doubt more is going on behind the scenes than everyone knows.
