quote:Possibly by LSU, just b/c it may not be announced doesn't mean the search is put off and that Miles can't find the right guy over that time span
I didn't say they have been snapped up, but if we wait unitl January some will be.

imo, I don't think 3 weeks is a sufficient amount of time to implement an entire defensive scheme. You'll be playing with the same amount of confusion and missed assignments as they are playing now with Mallory and Peveto.
It would be simplified but you can certainly start the assimilation.

That's what we heard last year.
So you're thinking he'll keep the same staff?
No I'm thinking by January Rhoads, Chavis, Koenning and Robinson will have jobs.

"Fair enough...if that's the case, it will most likely be an NFL assistant. Not sure why you would until after the bowls to hire a college guy."
to sell bowl tickets that may not sell if something does not occur before the game.

so we want to give the new coach only a spring and two weeks of fall camp to install everything to ensure that nobody is confused during the peach bowl?

Of course, Miles could have a deal in place with someone before the bowl and not announce it until after the bowl. If this happened, what would be the rationale, assuming Malveto isn't kept around for bonus reasons?

The difference between 8-5 and 7-6 is epic.

well his daughter's first best friend is Peveto's daughter. That has to be on par with turning around the program.

It's better than "settling."
You guys act as if there are no hurdles to jump to get the best guy in here. Instead, it's..."OMG they are not doing anything!!!"

I spoke with mallory today and since he's gotten a few weeks to game plan he thinks he'll have a game plan in place for Tuesday or Wednesday the week of the game

Like pointed out, those coaches got LSU to the bowl, it's doubtful their contracts stipulated they coach it. Rhoads, I personally don't care about getting snatched up.

how much total practice time is spring + fall camp? A month maybe? No rush, our players have shown they can pick anything up really quickly.

like i said last week, hiring a coach(coaches) doesnt happen over night. Gotta give it time. There is a lot of shite to work out and its a long process.

when does practice for the bowl game begin?
Posted on 12/8/08 at 1:51 pm to Prominentwon
assuming we have to wait on this new DC to finish where he is

That's true.
But a great hire could come in and teach this team how to defend the triple option which 2-headed monster cannot.
And a great hire could come in and con vince team to play with heart and believe in what he's saying. Two or three weeks of that is wo rth a ton of momentum going into spring ball and the off-season.
It will become increasingly harder to higher a coach after the recruiting season is over which is what I think happened to Miles last year .

Didn't Tennessee have an offer on O's desk within 20 hours or so of Kiffen getting announced?
