1)Tenuta can't or won't come until after ND's bowl game
quote:I know that Miles was definitely considering NFL assistants.
2) He's looking at a guy in the NFL (Mel Tucker, george edwards)

I don't look at these as meltdowns but slow fires under the asses of people who otherwise wouldn't make the right decisions.
For years USC football had very little internal pressure to change. That'sw why they sucked for so long before falling bass ackwards into Pete Carroll.
Great programs have great expectations.

Then Miles is trying to play nice with his failure assistants and give them a bonus they have not earned

quote:I find it hard to believe that an assistant would sign any contract that makes them have to coach the bowl game to get the bonus. You would think that just getting the bowl invite would be sufficient to get a bonus of this nature.

I am going to assume this is bad info from Buddy.
Maybe I am wrong, but seems like a clause like that would put the head coach in a needless conflict of interest.

quote:I do not know what their contracts look like but if there are bonuses tied to getting to bowls, I would say their bonus for going to the Chick Fil'a bowl is much less than one for going to a BCS bowl or a NCG so yes, they've earned it.

I would think that could be worked out too
Maybe the new guy doesn't want to come in, evaluate players, and come up with a game plan for the bowl, and then risk taking on early heat if the D gets torched against GT

miles might think if we beat g-tech, he'll be able keep his buddies without making changes.

That was after a ton of people made noise about him hiring Bill Clay as I recall.
I think most people on this board could pick out a few good coaches. Easily. That's because we 're not constrained by old allegiances and personality issues etc.
I think critical, rabid fan bases actually help coaches see through some of the clutter sometimes. LSU's fan base deserves some credit for the Pelini hire.

from the outside it looks like Les is handling this pretty terribly
Posted on 12/8/08 at 1:29 pm to BilJ
honestly, why does it matter if he doesn't hire anyone before the bowl game? This season is a wash anyway. I can't grasp this sense of urgency everyone else has.

it's the fear that he keeps mallaveto on staff that has everyone on edge.
