You forgot Corbin and Vitello so he went right into Top Tier 2.
Tier 1 looks like it was always fantasy despite $100 Millions to throw around and are we still in Top Tier 2 right now??
And LSU was supposed to be a Top 5 coaching job?
We got a Tier 2 with Miles and a lower Tier 3 with Ogre. Guess we should be content with a tier 2 and hope as everybody claims, any idiot can win a championship at LSU.

This a good question. There are several reasons as to why Napier is ahead of Aranda. Woodward feels that Offense is something LSU needs. Not saying Aranda is out but that is one reason. Another reason is recruiting, Woodward is a big recruiting fan. He was actually on the recruiting trail in the past.
And to add to that Woodward feels Napier would be cheaper then Aranda but could be better in the long run. I mentioned for Aranda to come back we have to pay like a top 3 coach. Woodward doesn’t feel that way.

All of this does not mean Aranda is out. It’s just what I am hearing.

If Woodward isn't even considering Aranda, I think that is a red flag. Not for the search but on Woodward.

Which coaches "in the mix" not named Riley or Jimbo don't have question marks about recruiting in the SEC?

I'll hang up and listen.

Y'all going to have to come to the realization this job is not as desirable as you think right now. Between living conditions in BR, the mess the program is in right now as a dumpster fire program, and the potential looming NCAA hammer...how many big time coaches at already established programs do you think seriously want to come here? NVM they almost never leave their situation unless they're extremely pissed where they're at.

O has run this program into the ground and it's potential full rebuild mode especially with the personnel issues he left it in. The QB room is not as talented as we thought either. May be starting a true freshman next year assuming he stays with LSU. He definitely will be the most talented QB day 1 on the roster because his physical gifts are way better than Nuss/Max.

LSU is in worse shape than when Miles left. The only upside is we're only 2 years removed from a NC. We don't know what the transfer portal is going to do to gut the team either. Settling for a risky hire like Napier is not exactly a bad thing. Be thankful we're not in a situation like Tennessee.

i will say there were plenty, and i mean plenty of houston media folks who caught wind of jimbo to a&m rumors the day after sumlin lost to UCLA.

they kept on repeating rumors on the news and then bam, everything came to fruition, even contract terms down to the penny

so there's definitely something leaky somewhere.

One source confidently said the target list now goes Riley then Napier, while another said Campbell then Napier, further proof of the different information out there.

Woodward knows he has to let the big hire lay low and come out when the coast is clear. That's probably the most important point of the entire hiring process. How many times have we seen potential candidates scared out of the job because of post leak pressure by their current program?

Yup and BMAC told you and swore he was the guy when nobody would listen which was kinda hilarious

I'm not sure how he got that information so fast before anyone but it clearly shows you Woody's inner circle has cracks in them.

Any chance that actually came from Arizona's side? BMac has west coast ties right?

Napier is completely milquetoast offensive mind and he's never been anything more.

Skip's #1 priority was hiring a coach that wouldn't bolt to the NFL. Stop and think about that for a minute. He also was of the mindset that the job was a privilege so they weren't giving in to any big money demands.

Then ultimately when Saban sent out feelers that he was looking to gtfo the NFL, Skip sent word that LSU had their guy in Miles.

If I remember the thread correctly, this was the case. Not sure of the poster but he said he was tied to baseball in Arizona & it was known Johnson was the guy. It was in the middle of Vitello, Corbin talk & was the only fish swimming in that direction.

Yes. Instability adds less flavor to LSU's advantages. Throwing money at the situation can always make someone listen but it doesn't mean it will be the only factor. The added pressure this program puts on their shoulders and zero tolerance on losing would give pause to established coaches in already stable situations even for more money it's risky.

They can't go into a blind situation with an uncertain gloom over the program with the NCAA. Is it likely they do anything? Probably not. It still adds to the instability and limits your advantages especially if something unexpected happened.

Is the program not a dumpster fire? Are we as talented as we think? We're in our first losing season in 22 years when we were hitting rock bottom all over again. Even all the season prior with our poor coaching under Miles/Orgeron we never sniffed this. So are we that talented?

With the instant gratification transfer portal you don't know how bad this team will be gutted either. Based on rumors swirling you're getting universities like Georgia tampering with our star players to pay them to transfer with big NIL contracts.

All I'm pointing out is don't be surprised if a lot of coaches told LSU no which is why someone like Napier is in play because you have to go down that list. I think Aranda would say yes because he's still rebuilding Baylor.
