He truly likes his job. He said in a tv interview he’s seen assistant after assistant leave really good schools and jobs and take head coaching jobs to only basically ruin their careers and end up in toxic environments the rest of their careers.

I’m pretty shocked he didn’t end up at K-State last year as an Alumni.

Is BV a good recruiter?

Maybe he hates that part of the gig and realizes he’ll have to do that wayyyyy more as a head coach.

Look at Bud Foster and Chavis. Both had offers over the years. Some guys just like doing what they do best. I can’t say for sure that this is the case with Venables, but he definitely isn’t in a hurry to become a head man.

Rumor about Foster was that he was the worst interview some ADs have ever conducted.

I read that too. Some really funny stuff if it's true.

His girlfriend in Greenville hasn't hit menopause yet. She's still in her prime in her 30s and she's happy being the girlfriend and doing her banking and investment stuff.

ETA: Or so goes the rumor. Evidently she is supposed to be a total smoke show, married/divorced with no kids.

Surely he wants a chance to run a program.

You know what you get when you "assume" things...

He gets north of $2.0 Mil a yr and evidently has no current plan to leave Dabo's side. Many have tried to pry him out of Clemson to no avail.

Did you see his defense when he was in the Big12?

Or maybe he’s fine with making over $2 million a year just being a Coordinator.

This. Think about the increased stress of a head coach vs. a coordinator. Next to zero media commitments, most of the fan base wouldn't recognize you in a grocery store.

From a salary standpoint, most people's lifestyle won't change much from $2 to $3 million a year compared to $5 to $6 million per year.

I’m not sure of how many offers Chavis ever had, he seemed to accept he was too lazy to ever be the head man. He flat out hated recruiting and its kind of a necessary element of college coaching.

It’s funny at LSU, A&M, and Arky when he first took the job he would make some very public visits to recruits as if to try and dispel that stigma...but then he’d basically sit his fat arse on the sidelines the rest of his tenure recruiting wise.

Son is a FR LB at CU, Jake Venables. At his current salary, with those duties, and coaching his son; he isn't going anywhere for the next three years.

I don’t think Dabo will come to Alabama after retires but, how can this possibly be debunked?

When you have two serious games to actually work for, this has to be another good reason.
