I'd put Jimbo in the split category. Many including myself think he would be a good if not great hire.

Napier: split fan base

I would classify Meyer as a home run. 3 Nattys at 2 places etc etc. Higher on my list than Riley.

totally disagree with this assessment...certainly no Ed O clone...was co-OC for one year at Oregon before taking over as head coach.

I don’t even want a “good” CEO-type hire. No Cristobal. No Swinney. I want something we haven’t had since Saban—an excellent Xs and Os coach locking down one side of the ball. No “motivators.”

I’m not putting my personal viewpoints, just trying to summarize the boards. I admit, I may have missed the vibe about Meyer. I just don’t remember as many threads since the finger in the blonde’s butt story video came out.

I’ve never had you post in my thread and was excited.

I disagree about Cristobal but can’t deny the improvements on the oline and he is a great recruiter. 1 year of Co-OC means nothing

Just sounds really similar to CEO who was a great dline coach and recruiter.

You don’t see the similarities just a little bit?

Rhule and Meyer are great hires...better than Aranda. Just not likely.

Riley and Meyer are both homeruns, with rhule being VERY close to homerun.

Just "Good"? You're nutts. That would be more of a homerun than anyone else. Hiring Meyer would basically be like purchasing a couple of National Championships.

He doesn't get a lot of talk because no one really sees him as realistic. But he's a half-step behind Saban with the potential to gain ground.

He’s not hiring someone with medical problems. That’s why we didn’t get Bianca.

Fair enough. It's a damn shame too. That story has only been kept alive on Tigerdroppings. The Jaguar fanbase doesn't even talk about it as much as people on here. Is a douchebag person? Probably, but his coaching ability is absolutely non debatable. He is absolutely the best college coach alive, not named Nick Saban, and that's closer than people think. Hell, we have more people on here wanting Hugh Freeze than Urban Meyer! It's insane! Or Lane Kiffin! You think Kiffin isn't sticking his fingers up girls' asses? The bottom line is if Meyer wasn't reasonably contacted, and by that I mean harrassed until told no, then a proper coaching search wasn't done. Title IX isn't as big of a concern as people think. LSU football brings huge ratings to ESPN and the NCAA. They ain't doing crap to our program. Hell, I bet ESPN would have even thrown in on Meyer to LSU! Could you imagine the ratings when Bama played LSU? Saban vs Meyer every season? Our fanbase lacks vision, and it's why we can't have nice things regularly.

Looks good to me except I've got:

Fisher - okay hire
Napier - terrible hire
Kiffin - good hire

If SW was really given the greenlight to pay between 12-15 mil for a justifiable candidate, then trust me! Meyer was a realistic option.

I’d love to personally have Meyer as our head coach for very obvious football reasons. Recruiting Natty’s Coverage.

I just figured since the board was quiet on him now he would be seen as a questionable hire due to a combination of negative news, “health” problems, and so on!

Here here. Meyer is like hiring saban 8 years ago.

Especially with the thinking that saban will hang it up fairly soon. Urbs would dominate.

I don't think he's anywhere close to a homerun. Trouble seems to follow him, I think it wouldn't be long before his heart is acting up and he "retires" again. With the title ix stuff going on, he seems like a risky hire.
