I'm reading up on Canada and his offense seems like a good fit for LSU. I can see his offense having success in the SEC and I can see him getting a lot out of the talent currently on the roster.

My concern is recruiting though. Can Canada recruit the South? What is his track record as a recruiter? That was one thing about Kiffin that I liked, he's known as a good recruiter. Who are the best recruiting OCs out there?

I had this concern but I alleviate it with a cliche:

"Kids commit to the school not the coach."

LSU rarely has issues attracting the top talent.

The places he was at before have trouble attracting top talent, period, which is why his recruiting looks bad.

At LSU, he and his position coaches will recruit because of the emblem on their jackets and hats. Anyone who comes here will look like an Ace Recruiter.

Tee Martin is the best OC recruiter IMO

Canada is not the best recruiter and isnt very involved with Pitt recruiting except for the QBs

Also look at this....this isnt just from his time at Pitt. Its all time:

basically over his entire career his best recruit he has credit for bringing in would rank 2nd lowest on our current commit list. let that sink in.

He will have to prove it himself and get those top athletes and I think he will after a year of film with these offensive weapons.

This is not how college football works, just because that is the way you have viewed it for the past decade in your bubble. Empires rise and fall.

I think it's important to note NCST isn't really a destination for 5 stars

If Canada is worth a shite, Bama will hire him before we act. It's just the new LSU way.

This mentality needs to stop, especially since right now we are seeing that is NOT the case at all.

How many recruits have gone to other schools recently? It wasn't just the two QBs.

When O was hired all of his apologists kept saying that O handles the recruiting and the OC/DC will handle the coaching.

You should go look at how Aranda 'blazed' the recruiting trail before LSU. Lack of recruiting prowess from our coordinators doesn't scare me.

I'm honestly tired of recruiting being the end all be all for coaches. We have a lot of recruiters and we need an OC and DC who lets their work recruit for them.

Tee Martin brings the best of both worlds: ace recruiter and a solid offense philosophy. If for some reason we don't get Canada, I hope we get Martin. Whatever short comings he may have as an OC he more than makes up for by being a ace recruiter.

We've had too many coaches that fall under this:

I bet recruiting guys to come to LSU will make him look much better. Tee Martin may be a great recruiter but recruiting to USC is pretty easy

The Tards are out in force on here every day, not just today.

Yes, all the bored little kids that have never played a down of organized football absolutely love those "Great Recruiters" that can't technically coach a lick.

Let's get all the athletes to campus and then let them coach themselves into more 3rd Place SEC West finishes.

Look at the Bama staff. They can all coach their arses off. That's why they kick butt every season. Many on here are totally blind to what it actually takes to win Championships on the field. Doesn't matter how many athletes you have, if you can't put them in a position to beat the other guy from a coaching/preparation/technique point of view.
