Not sure he gets serious consideration from LSU, but he will likely make the big jump soon. Rumored to be on USC's shortlist and has received interest from NFL teams in recent years.

Head coach at Iowa State...41 years old...played defensive line in college but was a offensive coach prior to becoming head coach at Toledo in 2012. 35-15 record at Toledo...40-30 record at Iowa State. MAC Coach of the Year (2015) and Big 12 Coach of the Year (2017, 2018, 2020)...

I heard an Iowa State beat writer on a radio station. He said Campbell is a huge family guy and has seven kids. They are very tightknit and he will not go just anywhere

Send both he and his wife have Midwest roots and would prefer to stay in that area.

The problem is I don’t see any openings. One thing to keep an eye on is what if Franklin leaves Penn State. I could see Matt Campbell at Penn State

I would happy with him or Aranda, when fans here ask, well do you consider either a top tier coaching? Yes, I do!

Also...it sure seems like Ohio puts out some coaches.

He has done very good at Iowa State considering that ISU is not a football school and is the dirty stepchild to Iowa. Personally, I think the next coach will probably come from this tier. The Riley talk is purely projection on many posters part.

I would just like to go on record and say that I previously thought Heacock could be a good DC hire…

Shameless self-plug

Campbell is a huge family and faith guy. Married his high school sweetheart type family guy. Has enough of what he needs at ISU (last salary infusion was for assistants not him) and only has 4 kids, not 7.

This is why "those in the know" don't know shite.

I said in another thread, I will be surprised if Matt leaves ISU for another college gig. Maybe a pro-gig, but it would be really surprising if he left for a college gig.

He loves ISU, has set down roots (according to several people I know who are friends and parishioners with he and Erica), and wants to be at ISU. Hell, he wanted to be there when he coached at Toledo. His Toledo team came to ISU to play and he called home to tell his wife how amazing ISU's facility and fans were from the field after the game.

Anything is possible in this crazy world, but Matt Campbell leaving ISU for another college would be very, very surprising.
