If I was a female who was raped at LSU by a football player, the last person I would go to would be Coach Orgeron.

were they convicted when she went to Art Briles?...No, silly...

Tracker, if some dude cornholes you (against your will) at your place of work...are you going to first bring it up to his boss, or would you go straight to the police?

Why not? You seem to be on such a high horse today, you can't reach the keyboard anymore?

When approached did he tell the victims to report it to authorities??? That would've been my response as well

Then you would be where art briles is because that's not how you handle the situation. Obviously you're opinion doesn't fricking matter when it comes to legal matters.

Yeah the word for word fact finding by an independent law firm reviewing the mishandling of the allegations is sensationalism. Please, since i am so mislead, tell me what happened in the case per the fact finding study.

Dude youre asking Briles to be able to know every detail and automatically find his players guilty before THE POLICE EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT. He basically told the victim it needed to be reported to authorites. You know why he said that, bc he is in NO POSITION to determine guilt.

It matters to me bc Ive seen the other end of this. Again, if a victim comes to me accusing my kid of rape and wants me to do smthg about it....you better have some proof or you can take the accusation elsewhere....... simple as that

Baylor had a history of systemic issues in their athletic department disciplinary procedures. See: Patrick Dennehy and the fallout after that ordeal.

Briles is hardly the center of this like you make him out to be. You make it seem as if he's orchestrating the rape himself.

I didn't think that football coaches had access to or the abilities to administer and interpret the findings of "rape kits" like the policy do . . .

The Briles apologist on this board are really sad people. When did freaking college football get so important to people that you are willing to victim blame, turn a blind eye, or be willfully ignorant of a situation in exchange for a chance at scoring more points next year.

Art Briles and Baylor decided to sell their Baptist soul in exchange for a winning football program. They took in guys who they knew had prior incidents with assaulting women and brought them down to Waco and then acted surprised when they didn't make a miraculous change of character.

They tried to pressure victims into not reporting by telling them they would have to tell their parents they had been drinking if they did. That's sick.

Screw Baylor and everyone associated with that God forsaken (literally) program.

Every INDEPENDENT person that has investigated this program has concluded that Briles' hands were more than dirty. I could care less what his former attorney has to say.

Not to mention that Briles' offense is extremely overrated if you look at what happened to Baylor when playing the type of teams you face weekly in the SEC.

We really need an Art Briles board on this site.

HOLY shite! Chicken, thanks for running this site, but god damn this is an ignorant statement. Of course they weren't convicted! It's Art Briles' along with other Baylor personnel) job to report these matters properly, though. He did not do that. That's why he is in trouble that's why he was fired. He did something wrong (knowingly or not) and now he is paying the price with his job and likely future jobs.

Really it's the victims fault again???
I've already posted this once, but here:

LINK

quote:

Following an investigation by Philadelphia law firm Pepper Hamilton, Baylor fired football coach Art Briles in May. In at least one case, according to the regents, Briles knew about an alleged incident and did not alert police, the school’s judicial affairs staff or the Title IX office responsible for reacting to such cases.

quote:

According to Pepper Hamilton’s summary, university administrators took actions that “directly discouraged complainants from reporting” allegations of sexual assault and that in one case “those actions constituted retaliation against a complainant for reporting sexual assault.”

quote:

“Perceived judgmental responses by administrators based on a complainant’s alcohol or other drug use or prior consensual sexual activity also discouraged reporting [sexual violence],” the summary read.

quote:

Senior Vice President of Operations Reagan Ramsower, who is in charge of public safety at Baylor, told “60 Minutes Sports” that the campus police failed to report alleged sexual assaults.

In reference to an incident of sexual assault, Ramsower said, “There was a police report; I suppose it stayed with the police department. It never came out of the police department. That was a significant failure to respond by our police department, there’s no doubt about it,” CBS News reported.

In some of the many cases police were contacted and of no help in conducting an actual investigation.

It's a Baylor problem that Briles was a part of. He gets what he deserves for his participation in it.

I honestly can't believe that people are defending this guy or placing blame on the victim for how she reported it. People react to shock in different ways. Some go to coaches, family, friends, authorities, etc. Ultimately, if the victim is filing a complaint with the University they and their staff involved have procedures to handle the situation. They, including briles, did not do that. That's why they are in trouble.

I hold him responsible for his part. Others choose to say it's the victims fault. I feel ok with my decision regarding who was at fault when we're talking victims vs coach.

Tracker, don't be dense. When she went to Briles, it was indeed an alleged assault.

I am no Briles apologist but why would the victim go to the head coach vs the police?

1) it wasn't art briles kid. It was a student.

2) art briles has a LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY to report those claims. He did not.

3) your opinion about you and your kid don't fricking apply here. This is a university with policy and procedures.

4) please try to comprehend that art never had to make an innocent or guilty verdict. He simply had to report the allegation. He did not. He failed to do his job properly. Period the end.

I believe the story is that it was long after the fact. I assume the victim was looking for some sort of advice. Many rape victims don't report the rape, or so I've heard.

Just for shits and giggles, I asked my boss this question just now:

"If someone called you and said one of your employees raped them, what would be your response...?"

He immediately said "I'd ask them why they were calling me...what do you want me to do? Call the police..... Its out of my hands until the police tell me differently"

So whats the difference.......???
He then asked if theres was anything he needed to know.....

All of that is fodder. If the victim wanted to pursue their case they had other avenues besides the football coach, campus police, or administration.

Saying this does not make one an apologist or blame the victim. My first reaction is calling 911.
