Most of the offensive starters were his.
He didn't even have a full recruiting cycle. If you think having a bunch of freshmen from a holdover class and a few transfers is enough to change things you are woefully mistaken.

i AM in shock that a LSU fan understands simple intellectual reasoning with regards to our situation.
And am now a fan of your posts. Not that you care.
In all seriousness, he had the talent to get to 6 wins, chose favorites in the locker room with less talent. Divided the team with his immature bull crap, spewed his slogans of "Hammer Down" "Left Lane" , couldn't back up his bravado and lost his fans quickly.
His "awesome" recruiting was falling off completely, and he was alienating boosters. Not to mention losing to teams no SEC team with a 2nd year coach should lose too.
We had no choice... the final straw, Fans not going to games or leaving early, or worse yet... wearing paper bags over their heads. He Was Done Period! We just aided him out the door.

One more time for those who seem to not get it.
Clemson got better after he left.
SMU got better after he left.
Arkansas will get better after he leaves.
That's not the sign of a good coach.

Oh, like you motherfrickers weren’t up in here along with everyone else in 2015-16 jumping all over us or again when A&M tried to hire Aranda. This is how it goes on this board. If you don’t like other fanbases commenting and trolling when your school has an opening, then go to your team board. This is not a safe space and never will be.

What? he got here in 2017 so the Sophomores on the team were half his and half Bielema. Every freshman was his. His first recruiting class shouldn't be held against him because he only had a few weeks to put it together before the early signing period but all the guys he made transfer to bring in his own guys? Those are on him. We had around 35+ players leave that he didn't think were worthy and many of them are doing better at their new schools. La'Michael Pettway scored 6 TDs this year for Iowa State and Jonathan Nance just came back to beat us with Missouri. Oh yeah, and Ty Storey came back as QB for WKU and beat us as well. He purposefully gutted the roster to make it how he wanted and we arguably got worse.

I'd have been all for keeping him if he wanted to take a demotion and pay cut to just be our recruiting coordinator.

I'm not sure why anyone is trying to debate that this was a bad fire

I think he is talking about the big name guys like Kiffin and The Pirates signing extensions

You can’t possibly justify keeping Morris based on these results combined with an 0-14 record in the conference.
The last 4 games that Morris coached, Arkansas was 0-4 and was outscored 198-60 with a blowout home loss to Western Kentucky. Anybody that defends that either hates Arkansas, is trolling, or is an idiot.

Old Gus is going to look pretty good to them before this is over. They will be begging him to come.

What might be more concerning for Arkansas is the people that are making the decisions on contracts and coaching hires to begin with.
What is the feeling among Arkansas fans for the AD and those around him? Did he hire Morris? Was he there to give Bielema the big buyout? How much confidence does the fan base have with the AD?

AD was hired after the Morris hire, and from all accounts they're very happy with his basketball hire.

Morris was hired before the current AD (Yurachek), Bielema and the last AD (Jeff Long, now at Kansas) were both let go at the same time. Long gave Bielema the large buyout.
Yurachek hired Musselman which we really like so far, but our issue has always been our good ole boy network, boosters and BOT. Since we're the only P5 school in the state there are a lot of politics involved and the people with big money like to stick their nose in where it shouldn't belong. Jerry Jones was a big reason we hired Morris. Of course you can't really shut them out because we need them too. By most accounts Yurachek has no problem telling them to screw off so that's the type of AD we need IMO.

Bret was average as hell and recruited right at our averages here most of the time here.
He did not leave us bad enough start getting pushed around by BAD G5 teams. But why don't you start a thread on your team board and see how your own fan base reacts yo hire chad?

1 what? 1 year? Chad had two years to show any type of improvement. Chad wasn't asked to turn everything around. Arkansas just needed to see some signs of improvement. Getting blown out at home by a G5 school who is starting a QB that Chad thought wasn't good enough to play was the last straw.
No coach can rebuild a basket case program like Arkansas in only a year and a half. I don't care who it is. Firing Morris without giving him at least a chance is probably the most retarded move ever in college football history. Arkansas will deserve what they get.
And whoever the sucker is that is stupid enough to go over there to that Godforsaken place and take that horrible job, better make sure they have at least a five-year 50 million dollar buyout.
You can't hire a coach and expect him to start winning immediately. You have to give them time to recruit their players and to implement their system. Morris was never given the time to do that at Arkansas before the mentally handicapped administration over there pulled the fricking rug out from under him.
Now they are going to have to pay the fiddler.

Jimbo to Arky for 76 million, and a case of cups that represent his ATM high point 74-72.

Hiring Morris was the mistake. Firing him was right on time.

Because not one other school can afford to pay him $400k?
Because LSU can easily afford to match any offers he gets, but why would he want to leave the best place to coach college football in the country?
