I can’t believe that, supposedly Gilbert was making only 100,000. With the money LSU would have paid him his Oline coach could have put on shadow staff or something and still made more money at LSU. Maybe Gilbert’s Offense has different blocking schemes so he wanted his own Oline coach, but if u supposedly want to bring in the best coordinators u have to sacrifice and find a way to make it work. I did believe that the CEO coaching method would work, but coach O is no CEO.

Yeah they are tied at the hip. The OL coach followed him to Texas as well.

as evidenced by all the people that have done it successfully before.

or, are you saying you thought Alleva and O are such visionaries they were inventing a whole new way of business in College Football.

I can believe that it is an excuse used by O. He is an admitted micro-manager and wants someone he can control.

Unfortunately I don’t believe a damn thing coming from the lsu athletic department. This is a complete shite show. Lsu football is back to being run by louisiana politics.

Gilbert never had an offer in the first place...it seems like it was just a name floated out there to satisfy some idea that a search actually happened.

Its a sizeable portion of the athletic department providing the false narratives.

Unfortunately fake sources and fake news are very real in CFB.

Alot of times it is used as an experiment to test the fanbase, or simply to cover up the reality of whats going on.

That GTN guy starting the thread on Gilbert being interviewed seems like an example of this. Either that or he was taking you all for a ride.

I lurked quite a bit before finally coming to the board with what I know. The response is overwhelmingly positive.

I feel we need to be on the same page , that is why I am doing my best to answer as much as I can.

I believe it.

Orgeron already mad an OC hire. Maybe he felt he had to to preserve the incoming class. But jumping on they hire when you know you were replacing the the OC forces you to require the incoming OC to accept it.

WR coach and RB coach should have been on the table for sure. But if Gilbert wanted OL, it makes total sense that it was a non starter.

Unless they did some sort of Canada deal, he's making about 850K with TX making up the difference. His oline coach is making 550k with the same sort of deal.

It goes farther back than that too. They were GAs together at UH over a decade ago, got their first major gig at Eastern Illinois, went together at Bowling Green, Texas, and now USF. If I recall Gilbert was brought in at Texas to “save” Charlie Strong’s job and he would only come if he brought his OL coach and some other dudes.

Which btw is exactly what y’all don’t want because they can’t recruit for shite

[link=(Gilbert / Mattox at UT)]https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/texaslonghorns/2016/02/08/texas-finalize-sterlin-gilbert-matt-mattoxs-contract[/link]

Yes, they are a joint package.. have gone everywhere together and introduced together at texas. Gilbert salary deceptive also in that UT effectively subsidizing salary via buyout.

so, believable that O said no since he had already agreed to hire a different dude as ol coach. ridiculous but likely true.

the picture tenthtiger paints is sad and depressing.

Good things on the horizon guys. Barring Ed Orgeron having a miraculous turnaround with that brutal schedule next year, his contract wont be extended.

But how much damage will be done before we get there? How far will we drop? How many recruits lost?

I'm not sure how you conclude that CEO being fired would be good news...

And I get if you don't like the guy but G who would be our coach?

Dave Aranda?.

He's never been a head coach so while I love him I'm not sure that works either.

Kirby Smart had never been a head coach before last year.
