Anti-Kiffin...LSU Needs a Coach, Not a Circus Act

After observing Lane Kiffin’s career over the last 20 years I don’t think it would shock anyone if he flirted with LSU during a UM playoff run, only to stay at UM or bolt to another program or NFL at the last hour. This cenario is only made more likely when you mix in that fact that his agent is Jimmy Sexton. As such, I hope our admin is conducting a legitimate search and vetting other candidates. Specifically, we should be speaking to other coaches that have coached above and below each candidate, as well as current and former players that play/played for him. The essence of what we need in a coach is a tireless worker, obsessed with attention to detail and winning football games, a la, Nick Saban. To go for the “shinniest”, and most expensive, object on the shelf just because you can, doesn’t mean that you should.
Yes, Kiffin is a good coach, and LSU could do a lot worse. I think I’m just tired of not having a normal/likeable coach at LSU. Miles had trouble forming coherent sentences, while Orgeron had trouble with the English language. Then came Kelly, whom I don’t know if anyone liked, so much so that he reportedly had to use a PR firm this last offseason in order to try and improve his image. Then you bring in Kiffin with his awkward whiny drivel. I have seriously wondered if Lane Kiffin is on the Asperger’s/autism spectrum. You have UM fans calling him narcissitic now as well. I watched the ESPN documentary and at the end he talks about trying to change to not make everything about him. Yet, here we are, in the middle of a UM playoff run and he is apparently in deep talks about jumping ship again to another program. He quit on Bama and Saban in 2017 and I don’t think he would lose any sleep over dropping UM to cash a bigger paycheck and go chase bimbos in a bigger city. The guy is still dropping petty tweets, trolling people, and trash talking opposing players on a weekly basis. Do you really want a coach that takes literally 50 years to “mature”.
Are we really going to reset the coaching salary market over the guy who lost to Brian Kelly last year and couldn’t make a 12 team playoff with a loaded roster, including a starting NFL QB? Kiffin has been a power 4/5 head coach for 10 years now and he has 0 conference championships and 0 playoff appearances. People keep saying that Kiffin would be unstoppable with LSU’s talent, but since Kiffin has been at Ole Miss they have put 6 offensive skill players on active rosters in the NFL comprared to 5 from LSU. At the end of the day, coaches will tell you that it’s more about the Jimmies and Joes than the X’s and O’s. If Kiffin doesn’t have good players, just like any coach, he’s not going to win football games. I would like to see LSU spend less on the head coach and put that money towards aquiring better personnel. Heck, we won national championships with Les Miles and Ed Orgeron, neither of which are known for being brilliant schematic minds. UM is currently ranked #6 nationally in this week’s poll, guess who is #7, Texas Tech, who’s coached by a guy named Joey McGuire who coached HS football for 21 years. If you like Kiffin’s offense, just have our new coach hire Charlie Weis Jr for OC, who has learned Kiffin’s system.
When Lane Kiffin was a 34 year old adult and the head coach at UT, he was able to flip blue chip recruit Janzen Jackson from LSU. The rub was that Kiffin instructed Jackson to stay silent about it until national signing day, so that LSU would not only lose out on Jackson, but they wouldn’t have time to find a replacement. What am I doing if I am LSU now in 2025? I am 110% pressing Kiffin’s people, making it very clear that we would make him the highest paid coach in the game. We are already starting to catch wind of UM brass and fans calling him out for flirting around with other programs, so ideally he starts burning bridges with Ole Miss so that they basically kick him out. Then, I am “Janzen Jacksoning” Kiffin by informing him that we decided to go in a different direction. Ole Miss will remain a permanent rival with the new SEC schedule format, and this is a great opportunity to weaken a rival. After all, they very well may be trying to do the same thing to us. At the least, if we can cause UM to have to overextend a bit financially to keep Kiffin, that may mean they fall short for a player or two in the portal each year.
If you’ve read this far, you are asking well if it isn’t Kiffin, then who? My current wish, is that they go through a deep vetting process mentioned above on: Dillingham, Riley, Key, Stein, Morris, Golesh, Sumrall, Golding, Minter, and Monken. Find the best fit.

He has probably burnt that bridge to go back. Their fans are finally tired of his trolling shite. It was funny for them when it was directed at other coaches/schools. Now its not funny to them.

Tl, dr. Don’t care about Kiffin or anyone else’s entire career. I value more what they have done recently. And he’s winning at Ole Miss while constantly putting out great offenses and qb play.
Want.
Want.

I'm not crazy about Kiffin either.
It's a very meh coaching pool.
There just aren't any elite coaches anymore.
Does anyone really think Ryan Day is elite? Not me. He's just competent at a school where it merely takes competence to win a title.
LSU is the same.
People hate on Drink but I think he honestly would be equal to Kiffin. But I also wouldn't pay him top 5 coach money.
Kiffin is a snake. Always has been, always will be. If he's the coach, fine, but he's not some savant that's going to all of a suddent turn into the best coach in the country.

how do you look at that game and solely blame Nuss? They ran the ball twice in the first half with a Rb and that is Nuss' fault? Are you retarded?

Because he was hurt and played regardless. Probably the one game where his injury was most prominent as well. He played BAD to dumb it down.

This is the only part worth reading. I agree with you if Kiffin is not it then finding the best option of the ones you mentioned is the move. I will say I like Morris the more this goes on.

So it’s Nuss’ fault that they refused to run the ball with a hurt QB?

I’ll wait for the 10 second documentary on the OP

Way too much text.
But I am not a big fan of the idea of hiring Kiffin either. I think he'd flame out in Baton Rouge.

What your doing right now is called "denial"
Posted on 11/17/25 at 12:21 pm to BoominSchous
lol yeah. You are in denial. You talk about Nuss but refuse to just admit it’s more. I’ve not said Nuss isn’t a problem. I ask you a question and you never address it.
