Never thought I’d live in a time where I was worried if I’ll be able to get certain books

This is madness. It’s a few warning labels on movies and discontinuation of children’s books now but this is clearly spreading. It’s one thing to say we won’t make new content the way we made old content (which is perfectly acceptable and a part of the growth and development of art) but to start to limit availability of books and put content warnings on things is straight up scary.
I’m thinking about our teachers taking us to the library frequently when I was in school to pick out new books or have a talk with an author and how safe it felt. It really felt like everyone there was concerned with making as many books as possible accessible to the kids. No matter the content. It was a place of exploration and joy. Now we have mainstream people in America arguing that this is a good thing. It shouldn’t even be a conversation. The banning and censoring or art such as books and movies is so wrong. It’s universally used as a when describing horrors of the past as a warning sign for bad things to come (if they aren’t here already).
I hope I’m just being dramatic but I’ve never really thought I’d live in a place where I questioned in 5 to 10 years if I’d be able to get this book or that book.

"banning" books isn't anything new. It is just the reasoning that is different these days.
I'm sure we all remember this scene from Field of Dreams

The left won't stop at having books cancelled from being published.
They already have places like ebay and discogs preventing people from selling used copies of things they find offensive on the secondary market.

I truly believe reading books with mature or what is now considered “offensive” themes when I was younger expanded my view of the world and allowed me to grow into an adult. Children these days will be sheltered from any type of “offensive” theme and as a result will grow up unable to handle real life.

Ya harry potter recently various shite in the ww2 and cold war eras. Music has always been more subject to outside restrictions.
People will get fed up and the pendulum will swing back

Also, if we want to take any heart from Harry Potter and NWA incidenta - the banning efforts and mass hysteria only propelled them to more impressive success.

I think you are being dramatic.
No one is saying these books should be burned, or thrown away, or banned.
Simply, the publisher isn't going to print new copies of them.
I think it's a bizarre decision... but companies can make whatever bizarre decisions they choose to make. If they go broke from being woke... so be it.

Really surprised they haven’t come after the Bibles yet, or at the very least called for an abridged version to be approved so that they can get rid of the stuff that offends them and keep that which makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Fascism is okay if used in a fight against fascism.
It’s bad when Christians try to ban books, but okay when progressives do it.
We must hold all past peoples and their works to today’s ideas and sensibilities. Therefore, all science and medicine is canceled because they got things wrong and had wrongthink ideas.

I still laugh at the fact the "Moral Majority" is now solidly a progressive liberal movement, religious zealotry and all.
