Been reading Stephen King for the first time

Cranked through IT and The Shining. How’s Doctor Sleep?

Different from the Shining, but good visuals. It's a vampire-like story.

Easy read. Like King wrote a Chrichton novel.

I enjoyed it.

Why don't you focus on the good ones first? Read Salem's Lot next.

Like every other SK book- nice build up, but anticlimactic

It was a very good continuation of the Torrance family story.

Everything until the end was good. The end was very generic.

It was cool enough. There was a lot of potential at the end that it did feel anti-climatic.

I liked being with Danny Torrence again though and hearing his story.

I really enjoyed it. I’ve read it a few times and it pushing for a spot in my top 5 favorite King books. I really enjoyed reading about grown up Danny and the other Torrence tie-ins.

I might be in the minority, but I’ve enjoyed his newer books since 2013 with Dr Sleep, Revival, and The Outsider. He seems to be a pretty good groove right now. Looking forward to reading The Institute after I finish up the last couple of Harry Bosch books.

It was just ok. If you like reading about AA and 12-step meetings, you will love it because that is half the book.

Same! I loved Doctor Sleep and I'm so happy that the movie is getting positive reviews. The audiobook was a great compliment.

I just cranked through Misery and now I'm working on 'Salem's Lot before I watch season 2 of Castle Rock.

Doctor Sleep was a great follow-up! As with many of King's books though, the ending is a bit flat.

Once get through Doctor Sleep I would suggest The Stand (haven't read Salem's Lot). King builds a very interesting world and populates it with some very interesting characters.

I thought dr sleep wash’s great. You may want to read some others though and give it some time. Part of what I loved about it was catching up with grown up Danny.

The Institute was really good too.

But I’m a fanboy and like pretty much all of them. Except Liseys story. I’ve tried to read that about 6 times. Never get past page 10.

I could never finish The Stand.

I tried reading it 3 separate times, last time probably 15 years ago.

I remember the first third of the book was one of the greatest things I’ve ever read.

Then the middle third was so unbelievably boring and tedious I could never get through it.

Reading it now.
Very cool how he brings in a character from the Mr. Mercedes trilogy.
