I don't get the anger. All of us who float the theory agree that its a bit . . ., crackpot?

FWIW, I'm hanging my hat on all of the foreshadowing of the dragons recognizing the Targ bloodline. For one reason or another, Dany will have Tyrion thrown into the dragon pit: but instead of eating/burning/raping they'll start licking his face and shite.

I think that the theory of them only recognizing that bloodline is more of a tale than reality. Obviously they can be controlled with the horn in control of the iron islands currently. I think that you are going to see more of a war between the north and south rather than Dany reclaiming the throne. I also think the North isn't all bad as I said earlier, it's pretty clear that the Starks associate more with winter than summer and I don't think that is going to exclude the land of endless winter. The Others are obviously portrayed as the bad guys but the winter itself isn't. The children of the forest and the greenseer are both perceived as bad in accordance with Melissandre even though we know that isn't absolute. The next book should reveal more than any to this point, I'm going to re read the last book again and look more into her prophecies as well as things that blood raven tells Bran. The Tyrion anger isn't that I don't like him or him being a Targ it's that I feel it as beig a cop out, Tyrion, Jon, and Dany controlling the dragons is too straight forward and doesn't at all address Blood Raven's claim that Bran would fly. Keep in mind that the entire series starts with Bran, there is no doubt in my mind that in the end he will be the main focus of the series. I am all kinds of Halloween drunk so if my thoughts are running together here I apologize.

I know that he is releasing a reference book of sorts but I'm not sure when it is scheduled to come out, I am pretty sure he intends to release it within the next year or so though. I'm not holding my breath on WoW, my guess is 4 years.

Yeah, World of Ice and Fire should be coming out sometime next year, and he's done a few readings from it about Aegon's Conquest. Here's a summary for the chapter he read. LINK

There's a theory that the guy in Bran's vision sharpening three weirwood arrows by the heart tree in Winterfell is Brandon Snow, Torrhen's bastard brother. Brandon wanted to sneak into the Targ camp and kill Aegon's dragons.

Also, The Lands of Ice and Fire just came out and you can order it on Amazon. LINK
It's a set of poster maps, but some of the maps will be what we already know of Westeros and Essos. The new stuff will be of eastern Essos around Asshai and such I think. I preordered it a few months ago but forgot about it until they shipped it a few days ago. Should be coming in tomorrow hopefully.

Time for another theory... On my third reread of Game of Thrones and I have come to a startling revelation. After Catelynn Stark foolishly arrests Tyrion Lannister and is solely responsible for starting every bad thing that happens in this series, it can be determined that she is, in fact, a direct ancestor of none other than:

I think this will happen to Aegon. Dany will get into some kind of spat with him after initially siding and as she thinks she has three dragons to burn down his army, they refuse or he is able to attract one. FWIW, I also think Aegon is bound to use that dragon for evil

The Ice Dragon

interesting from the summary:

quote:

The Ice Dragon marks the highly anticipated children’s book debut of George R.R. Martin, the award-winning author of the New York Times best-selling series A Song of Ice and Fire and is set in the same world.

Posted link before I read. Same world? Possible, I guess...if it were set in Valyria before the doom, but the reference to the "Land of Always Winter" and that it was "North" of the farm cries Westeros. But Dragons on both sides of the war? Did rival factions of Valyria fight over Westeros before the coming of the First Men?
More questions than answers here, for sure.

I always took that just to reference the fact that Bran would be warging into birds now.

slight hijack....

finally got my bf through the first season and somehow managed to keep my mouth shut.

A couple of his comments were:

"I figured Ned would die b/c that kid is a douche."

"They are doing a great job setting up season 2."

"The Lannisters are going to get theirs. The Starks are gonna whoop there arse."

"He (Robb) will be a good king."

"I think you are on to something w/ these books."

Going into it, he was a little apprehensive but came around by episode 5 or 6....and of course he was ready to start season 2 last night. I don't know if I'll be able to get him to read them...but I do think I've converted him to the show at least.

Bran will warg into a Dragon, Tyrion will ride one, and Dany will too. The three will rain fire on the Others, while her unsullied will finish it with dragonglass spears.

My brother just read through the Red Wedding. He texted me "I'm going to cry."

I called him and you would swear that there was a death in the family

I really hope not, since he always has the most boring chapters. ADWD his chapters weren't as bad though.

What if there is a dragon hidden in the Wall? When the Horn of Joramun/Euron's Horn is blown, it would wake that dragon, and when it breaks free, it brings down the wall. Fulfills both horn prophesies

Well, Queen Alyssane rode her dragon Silverwing to Winterfell and then to the Wall. I think that was the only Dragon who's skull isn't at the Red Keep as well. While I find it hard to believe she would leave behind a dragon right then, maybe it (or an egg?) was left behind/preserved at the Queensgate or Winterfell at some point...maybe right before she died and possibly it'll be released once the Wall falls.

He has already done that and he said he wouldn't walk, as he has also done, implying that something bigger was ahead. Reed having the vision of him as the winged wolf is one of the things that some people interpret as foreshadowing that. I think in his case it is much more likely that he wargs a dragon rather than mount one for obvious reasons.

My thoughts are that dragons weren't always only found in Valyria. We already know that dragon glass was used in the first Others invasion along the time that the watch was formed, that was before the Targs and people of Valyria traveled over and perhaps before Valyria existed. GRRM has told us that the three heads of the dragon don't have to be Targs, which is beyond interesting. There is also the likely hood of Darkstar being a Targ, he has silver hair and purple eyes that are "dark purple, and angry". It is going to get interesting at the very least. I think Jon being Lyanna and Rhaegar's son is a given at this point, his dream of him on the wall armored in black ice (dragon glass) with a flaming sword (light bringer) is likely not only a clue that he is Azor Ashai but also a dragon. If you accept that he is AA then there is still the dilemma about what Lightbringer is, I really like the theory of it being Ice that he will reforge but I think it is more likely that it is a metaphor to the Night's Watch. If he doesn't get the book out until 2014 late like is rumored I'm going to drive myself insane.

The conclusion to Wheel of Time is due in January/13. The series bogs down pretty badly in the middle but its a great story. Thousands and thousands and thousands of pages to keep you occupied.

Just curious, what are your 5 favorite centric chapters. They don't necessarily have to be your favorite character, but just a character that when you turn the page and see they're the next centric character, you get excited over it. Here are mine:

1) Tyrion
2) Arya
3) Theon
4) Jaime
5) Jon

Also what would yall's top 5 chapters be on the whole series. On the top of my head, these would be it in no specific order:

1) Tyrion: The Mountain vs The Red Viper
2) Theon: The Ghost of Winterfell
3) Jon: When Ygritte dies
4) Tyrion: Joffrey's Wedding
5) Tyrion: Tyrion kills Tywin

What are some of yalls?

I voted Darstar for President today.

At this point, Dany and Jon are locks to be two heads of the dragon. So the obvious question is who is the third?

Possibly, the most important "tell" that GRRM has given us could be the roles and locations of the Sand Snakes. They all seem to be involved in the most important Iron Throne/Kings Landing story lines: the King's small council, septa to the High Septon, a measter in Oldtown, and...

Obara Sand, eldest of the Sand Snakes, is after Darkstar.
