Unfortunately, in ASoS, Arya tells Sandor she will kill him and his brother. At the mention of her killing his brother, he flat out tells her she will not kill the Mountain.

could probably use some sort of chart.
Look in the back of the book.

I think both in the books and the show that the Hound will kill his brother with a flaming sword.

So, flipping channels earlier today, a scene from 28 Weeks Later made me realize London Tower Bridge is House Frey's Twins.
I never consciously made the connection...maybe because I had no idea how yuge the towers are.
Happy New Year...2019 and still no 'Winter.

I got the Kindle copy. So, flipping to the back is a bit of a pain. I'm sure there's probably a quick way to flip to that page and back, though. I just need to look into it.

Yea, but he said he's really working on it now!

Well, then I think I'm gonna hold off on the HBO series until the books are finished.
So what is the guess on what Valyrian steel is comprised of? Some type of dragonglass/steel hybrid?

That and blood. Lots and lots of blood. The process was essentially told to us in the legend of Azore Ahai. To temper the blade he had to thrust it into the heart of his wife.

Perhaps. I thought that the blood sacrifice thing was more what gave it unique fire/flame properties or whatever. I was thinking maybe dragonfire &/or wildfire being involved in the smelting process.

I can’t speak on wildfire but this part is definitely NOT a requirement because the blacksmiths of Qohor are the only ones in the world who can still reforge Valyrian steel and of course they don’t have dragons. Wildfire isn’t mentioned in the article either, but instead blood sacrifice.
As I said, look to the legend of Lightbringer and it all makes sense. The blood is needed for the tempering to hold the blade together.
There’s actually a running theory that the original Ice sword of the Starks was the original Lightbringer, which was the original Valyrian steel-esque blade. It is also theorized that this blade was lost in the Stark’s campaign in Essos against the Andals, only returning to Westeros later in the hands of a small, poor Andal house....the Corbrays. Now it is known as Lady Forlorn. Read the description on that blade sometime. It’s quite unique.

It's been a month, any news or rumors on a TWoW release?
Posted on 3/1/19 at 7:04 am to TigerFanatic99
Still nothing. If there was news of a release it will come with the hype generated at the start of the show. There’s always hope I guess.

I heard on the radio that the Fat Man turned down an offer to do a cameo in the final season because filming was in Ireland(?) and he didn't want to take a break from writing.
So...there's that.
So...there's that.

Haha I got an email from Amazon Kindle about the new release of his Graphic Novel "Starport". He's writing coming books instead.
I hope someone else releases their own version of "Winds of Winter" with a different title and maybe different names of characters just to piss off RR Martin and goad him into actually doing something in regards to wrapping this series up.

NVM - forgot this is a book board thread now.
Disregard.
Disregard.

In a slight defense of GRRM, if I had created a universe of such depth with so many POV characters and so many plots, arcs, etc, there’s no fricking way in hell I’d be able to finish. But then again, that’s why they pay the fatass the big bucks.

You'd probably figure out a way to wrap it up if someone gave you 8 yrs to do so
