© Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports
On Monday, Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley was suspended by the NFL for the 2022 season for gambling. Later in the night, the internet started digging up some of his plays and they do look a bit suspicious...

I suspect Roger Goodell has determined the outcome of more games than Calvin Ridley.

Including a team in an 8 team parlay is equivalent to buying a square on a pool for a game. fricking nothing burger

It was an 8 team parlay…. Let’s settle down. But the NFL had to make an example out of him. You can’t have guys betting on games.

Weak evidence.

Just typical soft receiver film trying to both protect himself and make cool looking cutbacks. Can do this with so many players. Amari Cooper, Kenny Stills, etc do this instead of the elite run after catch leave it all on the field types like Deebo Samuel or Steve Smith

Why is he repeatedly running backwards when he has broad daylight between him and the end zone???
user avatar
tigerbutt29 months
Because he didn’t

If he was on the take, he would be dropping those balls. People believe what they want to believe I guess.

I was expecting to see him move over, so the db can intercept the pass, or at the very least, batted balls when he's wide open.
user avatar
RightWingTiger28 months
Or he would fumble the ball & give it to the other team.

Ridley is an idiot.

No one can look at that and not question him. Very suspicious.

I do not get people trying to rationalize this. It is in his contract. He signed it. Do not bet on football, while under contract. Why is this so hard?
user avatar

No one is arguing that, I don't think. My particular point was that he bet on his own team to WIN and while not even playing or at team functions. He then got banned for a year. Yet, if your team/you cheat by manipulating a football or recording other teams practices OR if you just beat the shite out of women at a bar OR get DUI's you might face a 4 game suspension. The rubber isn't meeting the road with the NFL.

The NFL should suspend itself for promoting gambling organizations.

good lord, he was paid $11 million for his 4-year rookie deal, and had a 5th year option for $11 million this year. Why risk his career on gambling?

The internet is dumb again. He placed his bets in NOV. He hadn't even played for the Falcons for like 2 months at that point.
user avatar
jbird729 months
I mean it’s def possible there’s more bets that they just didn’t catch him on.
user avatar
LSUPERMAN29 months
And you know this how? So he got caught the only time he did it? Now who is dumb?
user avatar
DoubleDown29 months
Well the betting he was busted for was on the Falcons to WIN. So kinda the exact opposite of what y'all are alluding to but hey, carry on...
