In Payton's book, he tells the story pretty much verbatim to what Reggie said.

Peyton said it again later on when Peyton and the agent where negotiating Reggie's contract.

I remember Reggie Bush saying he was still unsure about having to play in New Orleans and when Payton brought him to Emeril's on his first night here, he said when he went inside that the people inside went berserk when they saw him. He said the whole place stood up and was cheering and screaming. He thought Payton had set it up and Payton told they weren't that organized to set up something like that. He said he knew then for sure that he was in the right place.

Always liked Reggie. He and Brees were the start of something special for the Saints

They were fun to watch. And by comparison, I feel like I'm in Saints fan purgatory now.

If you think you are in Saints fan purgatory, you must be a young Saints fan. The Saints were never good until Brees go here. Literally one of the worst franchises in the league for a couple decades.

Archie Manning was Reggie’s agent?

Coming out of college, I thought Leinart and Bush were gonna be the next Peyton and OJ. You don't want me in your draft room.

And that's why people thought USC would have beat LSU in 2003. It would have ended the same way the OU game went.

To be fair, I don't think the Saints win the Super bowl without him so at the end of the day the pick did exactly what it was supposed to do.
