Back in the day when the NBA was juat statting to get eyes on the league thanks to Boston and LA, then everyone turned into to see MJ. The other players knew to make a name for yourself play well against the best and people will notice you. And that is how you showcase your league. Find the one people want to watch and make the others step up and earn their spotlight.

I am not saying Catlyn is MJ. But people want to see her and the WNBA is so dumb and out of touch and entitled, they cannot see what the finally have.
