He’s an ump instead of a player for a reason, he gets fooled by breaking balls. That was an excellent pitch that the batter saw and the ump whiffed

Was a strike on the front edge of the plate.

The ump got fooled. He decided it was a strike prior to the end of the pitch. Then the bottom fell out of it and it made a suspect call.
