Former LSU star and current Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu was honored on the field during the first half of the LSU-Alabama game and donated a $1 million check to the LSU football team. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

“This gift is a testament to Tyrann’s love of LSU and Tiger Football and his desire to provide opportunities for future Tigers to achieve their dreams,” said TAF CEO and President, Rick Perry.

Mathieu’s generous gift to Football Operations will touch and enrich the lives of current and future members of the LSU football team, and the endowed scholarship will play a vital role in ensuring that current and future student-athletes have the opportunity to earn an LSU degree.

“I am grateful to be in a position to help student-athletes by providing financial assistance by way of scholarships to LSU hopefuls. It is my hope that my donation will assist students who may not be able to afford a college education on their own. It’s important for me to give back to Louisiana and create positive change in the community,” said Tyrann Mathieu, former Tiger and current Arizona Cardinal.

You want to talk redemption. That moment, right there when he stood in the middle of tiger stadium was redemption. 100 per cent deserved and he's 100 per cent a tiger.

Just a reminder. He wasn't kicked out of school for hitting women or stealing guns. He was kicked out for smoking pot. I know there's some people on this board that see this as an evil act but it is completely on the same level as alcohol if not less dangerous to yourself and others. He was always a good kid. He just participated in something that is unfairly stigmatized in this country. Geaux Honey Badger

...and cared more about smoking pot than playing football. He failed multiple tests and getting kicked off the team was the best thing that ever happened to him as a person, because he grew up after that and look where he is now. Still love the dude, but man, what could have been...

Two simple words to Tyrann Matthieu, "THANK YOU!" PS If you are reading this, I met your little cousin at a resort in Orlando and he seemed a good kid in Orlando, FL about 4 years ago. He was so very proud of you.

Man that is the first thing I thought and I was bummed, especially when I thought about how he was giving a million bucks to a team that kicked him off and a fan base that turned his back on him. Then I remembered the man that Ty has became and realized he didn't give a shite about the fans or anything like that, it was all about him!

You need to take a look at how the people around Glendale and the Cardinal program think about him. Guy turned it around in a major way.

Not saying you weren't, but him giving money to the football team makes him a great person?
