Multiple sources are reporting that the commissioners from the Power Five conference are discussing possibly postponing the college football season amid coronavirus concerns.

Many outlets believe that the Big Ten is leaning towards postponing fall sports and other conferences could follow suit.

On Saturday, a Sports Illustrated source said he thinks 'fall sports will be postponed in all conferences by the end of the week.'

Leaders in the Power Five conference are having meetings now and this week to discuss the situation and we will keep you updated on all developments. Per ESPN:
quote:

Commissioners of the Power 5 conferences held an emergency meeting on Sunday, as there is growing concern among college athletics officials that the upcoming football season and other fall sports can't be played because of the coronavirus pandemic, sources told ESPN.

Several sources have indicated to ESPN that Big Ten presidents, following a meeting on Saturday, are ready to pull the plug on its fall sports season, and they wanted to gauge if commissioners and university presidents and chancellors from the other Power 5 conferences -- the ACC, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC -- will fall in line with them.

Sources told ESPN that a vast majority of Big Ten presidents have indicated that they would vote to postpone football season, hopefully to the spring. A Big Ten official confirmed to ESPN that no official vote took place during Saturday's meeting, but the presidents are set to meet again Sunday night.

Rip for big 10 and pack 12 this fall. :( Ah well they not important anyways. The lefties are in pack12 country anyway and big 10 is sorta divided but u can catch the virus more in big10 country cause less sun light as not get as much heat in the south. Will the sec fold like their buddies (pack12 & big10) ?? Like coach Oeaux and Nick saban says: "you are much safer by going to school and testing any time u can or need on campus, the two coaches in college football with common sense and the only two to voice their opinion to the media

So does the SEC have the balls to follow a different path. From the time The Big 10 went to an all conference schedule then the SEC followed suit that’s where I know the answer bend the knee. This further proves the media and liberal leftist in academia run the show. They are trying to destroy our economy and the American spirit by using this China virus. No backbone no substance = College football administrators.

Watched a tennis tournament LAAT NIGHT in Italy. Yes Italy the country everyone thought would completely fall off the earth from this. There was full crowds with face mask.....anyone that thinks this isn’t political is insane.

They are compliant with face masks, which obviously helps. Meanwhile people act like conspiracy theorists here when it comes to wearing a mask.

Are you seriously comparing a game where 2 opponents are literally many yards away from each other to one where 22 are on the field together and engage in physical contact?

We had such a great season last year, nobody else wants to play anymore.

This is complete insanity. Shutting football down for .004% of the population. If anyone doesn't think this is political, you need to wake the frick up.

You don’t make a political point by costing yourself millions of dollars. That alone should show you how idiotic your belief this is political is.
user avatar
The ends justify the means to these people, they don’t care who they hurt or how much money they lose. This whole pandemic nonsense is 80% political and 20% fear of liability
user avatar
Tigers4Lyfe51 months
Why can't it be both political and real? Sure, it being a think is convenient to use it as s political tool, but that doesn't make it all fake.

So, will they also cancel college basketball since it starts in November?
user avatar
Tigers4Lyfe51 months
Who knows but it's easier to control the environment around the few players that make you a basketball team than a football team so there is hope.

Not 2021 champions but still champions until someone else wins it.

Or still reigning champions. They'll always be a champion even after another team wins.

The ideology behind the narrative is invented in the universities and put into practice by the media. Thus those who run universities and their sports are always highly plugged in and deferential to the narrative. Right now, the narrative is "shut down". Not surprising at all that there is a movement to align with the narrative.

End the season, today. Name Clemson 2021 National Champions, since they are preseason #1. Sunshine does not have to choke again, in front of a national audience.

The liberals have been trying to cancel football for ever. Look who run/ruin these colleges, figure it out yet? This is a dream come true for them. Problem is, most colleges can't stand on their own with out football. Cut your own throat much? Game ain't the same anyway.

These college presidents are primarily fund raisers. When they hear from the major donors, they'll change their tune - or will soon be unemployed.

This is the conference commissioners....the university president has no say so in this matter

Bucktail... don't be ridiculous. 'Several sources have indicated to ESPN that Big Ten presidents, following a meeting on Saturday, are ready to pull the plug' - the commissioners work fo the college presidents

Everything I thought and wrote for the last few months have come to full fruitation. Church services, schools, health clubs and now College Football are being cancelled by all the CoronoBros, Democratic politicians, leftist Academia and the media. America is allowing itself to be controlled by Blue Governors(Edwards) over the Covid-19 Blitzgrieg . Only mass protest-riots are allowed. All this to defeat Trump and the Republicans in November. Sadly we are capitulating ourselves to this.

@CharlesLSU indeed...I heard On Alex Jones that the blue governors met in secret with world leaders at Bohemian Grove and planned all of this.

This is all about the election and trying to defeat President Trump. I'm sure most can see thru this. If MLB & the NBA are playing NOW, why can't college football start back up in 6 weeks? This is #bullshite

They are just using the excuse of being worried about the health of the athletes to coverup what they are really scared of. The schools don't want to pay for the cancelled games, schools do not want to lose $$$ by playing in an empty stadium, ESPN, Fox, NBC, CBS and all the media ppl do not want to lose money from lost ratings because sports are just not as good to watch without fans in the stands. Watching the NBA games with virtual fans and MLB with no fans (even though I should be used to it since I am a Marlins fan) is just weird and ruins the product
