NOLA.com is reporting that Donte Starks' suspension from the team last weekend is due to his arrest on Friday, Jan. 31 for illegally possessing a concealed handgun in Jefferson Parrish.

Starks, 19, was jailed Friday night (Jan. 31) on counts of illegally possessing a concealed handgun and attempting to run away from deputies who stopped him while investigating a complaint about armed men selling crack cocaine, Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jason Rivarde said Wednesday.

Rivarde said that deputies did not find any drugs during Starks’ arrest, and he is not accused of selling narcotics.

Starks, a freshman linebacker from Marrero, Louisiana, played in three games this past season, mostly on special teams, and did not record a tackle.
