Report: Les Miles Is Interested In The Oregon State Job

Kevin Hampton who covers Orgeron State Football for the Corvallis Gazette-Times tweeted that former LSU coach Les Miles is interested in job opening with the Beavers.

Oregon State mutually parted ways with former coach Gary Andersen earlier this season. Andersen was under contract through the 2021 season.

Miles, who is currently working in the media as in-studio analyst and podcaster, has made it clear that he would like to return to coaching. Could Orgeron State be a potential landing spot for the former LSU coach?

Miles floated his name out for the obligatory "seeking employment" ruse. He isn't really going anywhere until that cush LSU money runs out.

I thought that as well last season when Miles "floated" his name for the Houston job but this time with Oregon State I believe ole Leslie is seriously wanting to coach again. The Beavers should be proud to have a NC winning coach on their sideline.

bamagreycoat, but if you're making $125k per month for doing nothing. To go to your kids sports things, to make a podcast, and to occasionally go up to NYC to do an appearance on CBS... Why would you not just wait? Because I would. And that's what he's going to do too. Coaching will be around in 4 years when all of his kids are out of the house.

I don't know Mark Twain, ole Leslie could bring some hard nosed, smash mout football to the PAC 12. I really would like to see Coach Miles on the sidelines somewhere next season. I would pull for Oregon State to do well if he gets the job. The Beavers should be proud to have a NC winning coach on their payroll imho.

Doubtful he'd get it, if only because they'll probably want someone who isn't close to retirement age and can stick around for a while. But he does have to at least pretend he's seeking another coaching job so he can keep collecting on his LSU buyout terms.

Don’t think he’s pretending. I think he really wants to coach again. It’s in his blood. I just don’t think a Power 5 school will hire him because he refuses to change his style of offense. Of course, smash mouth may be the perfect offense out West, where they are mostly finnese teams. I wish him luck!

Yeah, CLM and his agent will respond to many open coaching jobs w/ "He's interested," but not really. The few places he'd be interested in are not going to hire him. He's not going to the types of positions that are open as they'd result in a ding to his reputation and pay.

les can be interested in anything he wants, no one is interested in hiring a coach proven to be a failure at the best recruited and most talented school in the SEC and still cant win because he is a horrible coach. great guy but cant coach, wherever he goes will be just enough for a winning record but never anything more. his one claim to fame was taking the players saban stacked the roster with and he won despite his terrible clock management and constant coaching blunders

Miles didn't adapt during the second half of his LSU career. Don't think it's fair to group 2012-2016 with 2007. He was viewed as a different coach back in 2007. Agree with 98% of what you said.

Pretty sure 2011 team didnt have any Saban talent on it. And sure we didnt get it done, but that team looked great all year except when it counted at the end.
