Terrible news...

Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reports that LSU veteran running back John Emery Jr. suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice and will miss the rest of the season.

Emery Jr. had just made his recovery back to the field after suffering a torn ACL vs. Florida last November.

Emery Jr. was LSU's most productive running back in the season opener vs. USC, rushing for 61 yards on ten carries. Now, Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson will carry the load for the rest of the season, with freshman Caden Durham as the next man up in the rotation.

Sophomore Trey Holly has still not been cleared to play due to his ongoing legal situation.

Jesus I can’t imagine the absolute devastation that young man is going through. He looked like our best RB too against USC. Wish him well and I hope he recovers because he’s got NFL skills.

This is why NIL is good. Guys like this who give everything to the meat grinder that is football get something. His career may be over but never know with advancements in surgery. I think about guys like Marcus Lattimore as well who was set to be a can’t miss pro but kept getting hurt. Hopefully he doesn’t give up and can get at least 1 nfl contract.

This sucks arse, but it can be a blessing in disguise. Time to get into coaching my boy. Grad assistant at LSU, and then start your coaching journey.

Just awful. From a biological standpoint, it obviously was just not meant to be, but man did he always look on the edge of showing out and changing the game. Best of luck and full recovery to a great, great fighter.

hardship medical redshirt? he wouldn't be the first 7th year guy in history. Plus, aren't they about to give everyone 5 yrs of eligibility?

There have been multiple 7 year guys. I think the Miami TE is an 8th year guy.

Can’t help but feel simultaneously sad for him, but so respectful of everything effort wise he put into football to get to and stay on the field for LSU. It just doesn’t appear to be meant to be.

Will never forget those high steps and juke against Bama in 2022 that went for a touchdown. He was a beast in that one. Geaux Tigers.
