Terrible news...

Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reports that LSU veteran running back John Emery Jr. suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice and will miss the rest of the season.

Emery Jr. had just made his recovery back to the field after suffering a torn ACL vs. Florida last November.

Emery Jr. was LSU's most productive running back in the season opener vs. USC, rushing for 61 yards on ten carries. Now, Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson will carry the load for the rest of the season, with freshman Caden Durham as the next man up in the rotation.

Sophomore Trey Holly has still not been cleared to play due to his ongoing legal situation.

With his injury history and academic history, I wonder if the NCAA could allow him to play another year ? Like that TE from Miami who has been in college 9 years.

He looked good too. Looked to be in great shape compared to last year. I don't know if his Marshawn Lynch running style of 120% effort/bruteness is what causes these injuries.

Man, man, man. Life is sure strange. Maybe god is hinting at you to change directions John. What is your #2 passion? Maybe while you recover, put more energy into that. Maybe it will become your dream or your next goal and just as substantial as football was.

Man is never in such a state of satisfaction as when he's moving in the direction of his goal.

Jesus I can’t imagine the absolute devastation that young man is going through. He looked like our best RB too against USC. Wish him well and I hope he recovers because he’s got NFL skills.

Sorry but why is this idiot not wearing knee pads??? How can these coaches let these kids play football & not wear pads to protect their knees is beyond me. Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy???

Knee pads do nothing to prevent ACL injuries.....especially this one, as it was a non-contact injury.

Can’t help but feel simultaneously sad for him, but so respectful of everything effort wise he put into football to get to and stay on the field for LSU. It just doesn’t appear to be meant to be.

Just awful. From a biological standpoint, it obviously was just not meant to be, but man did he always look on the edge of showing out and changing the game. Best of luck and full recovery to a great, great fighter.
