Here's what Ed Orgeron had to say after LSU's 44-34 loss to Mississippi State.

If we could cover in man and it was obvious, then why was no adjustments made in coverage and on defense the whole game? That is on Pelini. And the offense didn't play well. The first quarter was abysmal, first half for that matter, and they left the defense out there the whole first half. 3 outs were in vogue.

QB was terrible. DEF. should have played more zone. DEF. coach and QB lost this game.

The OC failed as well. No running game in the first half

These boards are incredible. We lost our whole team, and lost our best player the night before the game. Some of y’all are ready to fire coach O. He is building something special at LSU, if you idiots will just support it and cheer for your team. You can’t have the greatest season ever played every year.

Not to mention 3 of the teams best players quit right before the season started.

Lot of non lsu folks were saying they would drop several games this year due to losing so much talent, but I distinctly remember a whole slew of cocky lsu fans saying they were reloaded and many were predicting LSU would whoop bamas arse this year too. Guess they forgot about MSU?

So then why did we stubbornly stay in Man defense?

Look, I had high expectations for this season and I truly shouldn’t have after all the starters left. I’m fine with 2-8 only if we beat bama and Florida. Or 1-9 for miracle in the bayou win against bama at home. I would be contempt with that. I believe that’s more realistic than 5-5 at this present moment.

It wasn’t the play calling there were several plays where Brennan did not see the field players were wide open. On plays where he should take 3 steps back he would take 6. Holding on to the ball way too long.

Receivers were wide open on at least 4 plays.

Shite arik Gilbert was open most of the day

True but Brennan does not have eyes in the back of his head like Joe Burrow did, also does not have pocket awareness like Joe did, can't scramble to save his life ike Burrow did often to find an open receiver or gain a first down. What can the next qb do?

Maybe it is time to hire younger innovative coaches, not old retreads. Maybe we went in the wrong direction when we lost the talented coaches we had. Maybe we should have considered Jorge Munoz. Maybe Bo Pelini doesn’t know how to defense spread option attacks. The test will be if O can fire coaches if they are ineffective or can bench players (Brennan?) who are not meant to be starters. Saban would not sit on his hands but Les did. Is Coach O Going to be more like Nick or more like Les?

Agreed agreed agreed.....!!!!!

Well Coach O already did that when he fired OC Matt Canada after one year and hired PGC Joe Brady. Coach O already did that when he went and got QB Joe Brady instead of sticking with the QB's he had. Damn after one game a lot of you so called LSU Tiger fans are calling for his head after a 15-0 National Championship season. Coach O has a hell of a recruitlng class coming in and a very young team now so we can't turn our backs on them we have to support our LSU Tigers.

He acted like an a-- after wins last year. Leach was cool and didn't say "we're not gonna celebrate a win over LSU". U celebrate every win in the sec. It's tough as hell. Never get caught up in your own BS orgeron.

They still had chances-to win. Realistically they could finish 6-3 to close out .600 and build for 2021. Bama, UF and Auburn will be tough foes.

Bull crap I watch every game today. They may not win a Game this season. Missouri looked impressive against bama. Florida didn’t skip a beat, neither did auburn, Arkansas took Georgia to the 4th quater. Ole miss looked solid against Florida, Carolina has more returning starters and a solid HC. 2-8 or 3 and 7 if we’re lucky. It’s worst than what you think. You should watch other teams that played today and then you’ll see what I’m talking about.

It looked like Les was back on the sideline today. I will give them a pass this year due to the loss of talent, but have to wonder how much losing Brady and Aranda will hurt in the long run. Wasn’t a fan of Pelini on his first go. He is not all there mentally.

If u weren’t a fan of Pelini on his first go, than you didn’t like top 10 defenses. Times have changed, but dumb comment.

So you’re not “a fan” of great defenses?

I'll say, the worse defensive performance ever for an LSU football team in their History. No excuses, yeah we missed Stingley but it looks like we missed Aranda more that O thought. Bo your defense sucked ALL game. Offense was just south of horrible, Brennan played like Harris did against Auburn a few years back, except Brennan has been here for 4 flipping years, my gosh. I don't think any Tiger fans expected this. Good gosh look at our schedule and find 5 wins, from the mountain top to the out house. geez

Agreed, I mentioned this on another article. 4-6. They even look soft. They got bullied around all game. Ms State was hitting way harder than LSU. The tackling was the worst ever.

Jesus. Everyone thought the same thing after TROY beat our arse in TS too - member? Put the shotgun down & have a little perspective or at least wait until we’ve played more than 1 game!!

Brennan played as well as expected for not commanding an Offense for nearly 1500 Days he should be ok.

With Brennan holding the ball for 60 seconds every snap and our historically bad defense I'll be shocked if we win any games at all this year. We may very well go winless the year after going undefeated.

We gave up the most passing yards EVER given up in any SEC game played...EVER. what does Bo Pelini have to say about that? Why didnt we adjust to play some zone?

Maybe chase seen the writing on the wall with this team being so young and not experienced. Kind of see why he prob did want to opt out this year. These guys have never played together. Good thing I didn’t have high hopes for this year. Let’s just coach these young guys up right and win some games.

@ capitol B I agree with you on everything that you said except “ underutilized-running game”. The running game would have done nothing for clock management against a team that dominated in the air and scored with impunity. Ms state played a 5 man front the entire game therefore I’m not any more confident in the running game as the passing.
