Multiple sources are reporting that LSU is set to hire Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, with an announcement coming as soon as Tuesday.

The news was first reported by Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports and confirmed by Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated.

The 60-year old coach from Everett, Massachusetts is in his 12th season at Notre Dame with an overall record of 113-40. The 6th-ranked Irish are currently 11-1 this season and still in the College Football Playoff hunt.

I’m not mad either. Not my first choice. But he’s solid. Also has young coordinators. Understands youth.

Guess you wanted USC boy who clearly wanted nothing to do with SEC hear.

Why? He’s done wonderful things at ND with a lot less talent. He’s not charismatic but neither is Saban.

Give the man a chance. With Louisiana talent he’ll get LSU a championship.

This is a good hire. He isn’t scared of the SEC like USC boy. We’ll see people.

Has an excellent resume. I did not see this one coming and applaud him for wanting to coach in the SEC.

He can beat Alabama with LSU talent and not embarrass the university like O did after the 2019 Bama game

im fine with this. i was expecting someone younger and more upside, but there really isn't any reason to be disappointed with him. he may end up making woodward look like a genius.

We were never promised “young, high energy.” A lot of people thought it up on their own and let it become their reality.

I know many are disappointed because their number one choice didn’t get hired. But let this marinate a few days. This is a good hire. Les and O won championships here. BK will be successful here. Let’s Geaux!

You're welcome ND, you didn't have to do anything to embarrass the university, Kelly left on his own. Many a year you wanted to get rid of the ole fool, and now LSU has saved the day for you.

Norte Dame’s record the last 5 yrs: 10-3, 12-1, 11-2, 10-2 and this year 11-1. We are really taking a loser off of their hands!

I hope not! ND results in the playoffs are a joke! The committee puts them in because of their national reach (I get that)… however, even getting in … with top recruits and talent have fallen well short of success against SEC and ACC teams. Coaching could not get ND over the hump. What’s his recruiting pitch at LSU? I used to be the HC at ND? I have taken teams to the playoff; but couldn’t win it?

Notre Dame doesn’t have the resources like LSU does!

You know jack. 90% of our players couldn’t play at Notre Dame due to academics.

“I have taken teams to the playoffs, but couldn’t win it.” Could also be LR’s pitch as well.
