LSU PARTS WAYS WITH OFFENSIVE LINE COACH JAMES CREGG

BATON ROUGE – LSU has parted ways with offensive line coach James Cregg, head coach Ed Orgeron announced on Wednesday.

Orgeron said he will immediately begin a national search for Cregg’s replacement.
Orgeron hired Cregg to his staff in December of 2017. Here are the details of Cregg's contract, which was set to expire in March of 2022. Per The Advocate:
quote:

The 47-year-old Cregg was entering the final year of his most recent contract with LSU, which was set to pay him about $700,000 starting this year through the contract's expiration on March 31, 2022.

According to Cregg's most recent contract with LSU, if he is terminated by LSU without cause, the university must pay him the total remaining base salary and supplemental compensation in monthly installments equal to the amount of time remaining in the term.

He must have been nailing Coach O's young little girlfriend. O busted him!

Whoever Ed O hires must not only be a proven offensive line coach but also a proven recruiter at the same time because unfortunately Louisiana produces very few good enough offensive linemen.

Cam Robinson. DJ Fluker. La'El Collins. Demar Dotson. Andrew Whitworth. Those are just the first OT's I thought of off the top of my head who have sig snaps in the NFL (recently) and are LA products.

Coach Peetz will be involved in the search and selection. Don't worry. Be happy.

Thank you Coach Cregg for your time at LSU coaching the Offensive Line and winning the Joe Moore award for Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit in College Football. We won a National Championship with arguably the best offensive line ever at LSU protecting Heisman winner Joe Burrow was a magical year.

Joe Burrow won them that award with his pocket presence and his escape ability. I love LSU but that was not an award winning O-Line.

When you have the Darius Guise and all of the Les Miles skeletons in the closet being exposed in the national media, it not only hurts the prestige of the university, but it also harms recruiting and it also causes coaches sometimes in desperation to break rules. I feel sorry for him.

Considering Coach "O"s hires. I am losing confidence in his ability to know coaching talent. Time will tell with the new hires, but will "O" have enough time to clean up mistakes and make a mends.

Please hire somebody that can coach footwork, and lateral movement, to those tackles.

Thank God. I was in the minority that thought he didn't stand out in particular in recruiting prowess or coaching. If either one were elite, I would feel bad about this.

Everybody's clamering for Kevin Mawae as the new OL Coach with would be the right call. But can anybody tell me can Mawae recruit? I don't care about his LSU legend status, his OL Coaching ability right now we really need a great recruiter as well as coach. Because Cregg was not that good of a recruiter and the young OL wasn't developing like they were suppose to be so a change was warranted.

All he has to do is give his credentials and show that HOF ring off

Hate to be the one where I said told you say. Thanks Cregg for your recruiting violations too that could potentially put us over the top of the death penalty since we have self imposed major violations as it is that the NCAA hasn't even gave their own ruling on yet.

better to get it out the way now than to wait until the season starts and we have to rush to get recruits to sign plus he did not bring any recruits in last year or this year

The best hire would be Kevin Mawae, a NFL/HOF & LSU legend, LSU cannot find a better candidate.
