Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin held his weekly press conference on Monday ahead of Saturday's matchup vs. LSU and talked about the Tigers' re-tooled secondary featuring three veterans from the transfer portal.

Kiffin said the starting trio of defensive backs, Mansoor Delane, Tamarcus Cooley, and AJ Haulcy, were "probably the three most expensive portal DBs in the market."

Speaking of transfer DBs, LSU will face former Tiger Sage Ryan Saturday night, who transferred to Ole Miss in the offseason.

Defensive end Da'Shawn Womack is another familiar face the Tigers will play Saturday after he transferred from LSU to Ole Miss in the offseason.

I will once again stick up for Sage Ryan.....a little bit. It is my understanding he never played safety until his freshman year at LSU. And the kid tried, he never quit or made excuses so....

No problem with Kiffin saying that, because it is probably the truth. Dollars are a part of the game going forward. As long as they produce.

Sage Ryan will show up every play… just as it is ending! That’s his M.O. He just doesn’t like contact!

These players have transformed the secondary. This secondary has a lot of experience and play with great intensity and attention to detail.

Sage Ryan may be the worst safety in the last 25 years at LSU.

Defense will win the game this weekend. Which is why LSU will come out on top

Agreed. We will get more stops than they will. OFF needs to make red zone possessions count.

I’m sorry Ole Miss is poor. You took the job. Deal with it

He heard that about his team all last year and has been waiting to use it on someone else.

Lane, quality and consistency will demand a premium value making them worth the risk. We seem to be getting plenty of value so far to replace the lower value guys that moved on.

Welcome to 2025, Lane. That’s not the sick burn you think it is.

It got under a lot of LSU fans’ skin. And, he is intimately familiar with the year. Until this year, few had played the portal game as well as Lane, with significantly less resources. Ole Miss finished in the AP top 12 once in 50 years prior to Kiffin. They’ve done it three of the last four with him.

No I seem to remember a safety that went to Oregon as the most expensive
