Following the Bengals 34-11 win over the Lions on Sunday, former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow met with media and commented on the Ed Orgeron news.
quote:

"That's disappointing to me because he's really a man that gave me an opportunity when nobody else really would," Burrow said. "I wouldn't be here without Coach O. I'm forever indebted to him as a person and as a player. Our relationship will continue for the rest of our lives. I love the man, I love the coach."

"I know they have not won as many games as I know they would like but we did just win a National Championship two years ago. That's disappointing. I love Coach O and everyone over there. I hope he's able to find a place where he feels welcome."

Welp. You’ve moved on and just look back at the memories. We are living in this dumpster fire.

His reaction is totally understandable, but things aren’t as he remembers then. The situation has changed, and it was time to move on. I just hope, in time, Burrow will come to realize this and won’t feel like a bridge has been burned. Regardless, Burrow will always have my support.

If Joe would have finished his last two years like the last two years have been, the opportunity alone would not have been sufficient. It's easy to look back fondly when you achieved the maximum. Then again, I wouldn't expect any less from Joe than praise for his coach.

I think everyone is disappointed in the whole mess.

Exactly, I wasn't a fan of the hire, but I damned sure wish O could have had LSU winning and competitive for the rest of the he wanted to stay at LSU.

Understandable and I absolutely get where he’s coming from. That’s his coach. It sucks, but it wasn’t working out. The CEO model of college coaching is a myth, you need a guy who is a master of all aspects and O isn’t that guy.

It worked just fine in 2019. But it’s a crap shoot and finding the right pieces seems hard. But 15-0 disagrees with you.

Wait till they ask him about all the ho's he brought to practice. What's really disappointing is that this could jeopardize Burrow's relationship with LSU. We need guys like Burrow repping the school at the NFL level so recruits see what can be. I guess a bar and grill in BR named Burr-O's won't happen now. Would have been a gold mine.

Of course he feels this way and I can't blame him. You saw his Heisman speech. The only way he would say something different today was if he was lying that night. He also said WE a lot in that statement. Yes, he's disappointed O is leaving/being pushed out, but you can tell he's still a Tiger.

Read Ross Dellengers new piece on Orgeron and you’ll understand why this was necessary

Burrow loves and respects the man, who gave him a chance after Ohio St. said, “ bye, bye”. Why would he not be disappointed by the parting of Coach Orgeron from LSU football. Burrow showed what is possible. To bad Coach O’s train ran off the tracks. Poor decisions, judgement, results will undo some of the brilliance of the 2019 season. Can you believe a professional would not do his due diligence on hiring an important position such as defensive coordinator? I could not either! I wish Coach O well; maybe he will learn from these obvious flaws.

Understandable, but Joe isn’t aware of the “day to day” operations in BR. You can’t bring your girlfriends to practice with their children. You can’t trash talk opposing fans. You can’t continue to piss down our backs and tell us it’s raining. You can’t hire subpar coordinators. You can’t allow LSU to become a third tier SEC team.

You can absolutely trash talk opposing fans. Especially when they wear sissy blue shirts. It does help if you actually beat them in the game afterward, though.

"Understandable, but Joe isn’t aware of the “day to day” operations in BR" But I am guessing that you do know more about it than the guy who lived it better than anyone in LSU history?

Yeah we should keep a man that’s clearly crumbled from the success he achieved in one season. Throwing chairs over hype videos, trashing fans on TV, and title IX issues be damned. How do some people think that this should be the face of the LSU program? Face it, Orgeron can’t keep himself together much less a top level football program.

He's saying exactly what all the recruits think about it, and exactly what all the potential coaching hires think about it.

But the Rantards told me that LSU would have won the 2019 title without O. Regardless of today's outcome or tomorrow's developments, I believe O was the perfect hire for the 2018-2019 historic run.

One can't argue with the success "O" and LSU had in 2019....15 - 0 and a CFP National Championship.

Joey you have to separate the success you had with Orgeron, and his nosedive over the last two seasons- on and off the field.
