Former LSU defensive end Andre Anthony was named head coach at Bonnabel High School this week.

The 28-year-old from New Orleans played at LSU from 2018-2022 and was part of the 2019 Nation Championship team. He will replace former LSU defensive back Dwayne Thomas who was the head coach at Bonnabel last season. Per Cresent City Sports:
quote:

Anthony succeeds Dwayne Thomas, who spent just one year with the Bruins. Bonnabel was 5-6, reaching the Select Division I playoffs, losing to rival East Jefferson 28-10 in the first round.

Thomas took over for BJ Cohen, who spent two years as the head coach.

Anthony served as defensive line coach for the Bruins under Thomas this past season.

Anthony was part of LSU’s 2019 national championship team. Anthony played in 35 games in his four seasons with the Tigers. He was drafted in the seventh round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 NFL Draft, though he did not play there. Anthony later spent time on the practice squad of the Chicago Bears.

Always thought he was a great team leader and hope he can be a positive male influence on some of these young dudes. Best of luck.

That photo reveals one beautiful uniform. Perhaps, the team's best uniform.

Man I always felt so bad for him with his career ending injury here. At least he got to score a TD in that game.

5-5 got them in not 5-6. We had a state champ in the then biggest class that was 4-5-1
