Finebaum: Nick Saban 'Indicated' Officers Who Arrested His Players Were LSU Fans

After a heated argument on-and-off the air between Paul Finebaum and Alabama head coach Nick Saban regarding that arrest of two Crimson Tide football players, Finebaum came to a new theory as to what Saban might think actually happened with the incident.

According to Finebaum, Saban thinks the arresting officers might have been LSU fans.

Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson and defensive back Laurence "Hootie" Jones were both arrested on May 16th in Monroe, LA on charges of possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen gun.

The charges were dropped by DA Jerry Jones who cited insufficient evidence in proving who was in possession of the gun and the drugs.

SEC Network's Paul Finebaum and Alabama head coach Nick Saban got into a heated argument on set at the SEC Media Days Wednesday while discussing the Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones situation.

The argument continued after the interview and Finebaum described the intense situation to the viewers once they came back from commercial break:

"What you saw in camera was fairly tame to what Saban said to me afterwards," Finebaum said. "I was more struck by his anger off the air, just describing the atmosphere here. It was more hectic and more intense after the interview, then it was during the interview."

Both of the players should have been arrested for possession. Are you fricking serious? Charges dropped because they didn't know who the gun and drugs belonged to? I can't watch the video, but I'm gathering that Saban is insinuating that they were arrested because the cops were LSU fans? And not because it's illegal to possess weed, stolen firearms, and weed in the presence of firearms?

the reason behind the search was because the officer saw a firearm, which isnt illegal. Therefore the search was illegal, the amount of weed they had was ludicrously small, and there were 4 guys in the car... only the 2 alabama football players were arrested... if you dont see anything inconsistent about that then you might need to go back to elementary

except that it doesnt work that way. you cant charge 4 people for one bag of weed. 1 bag, 1 charge. thats how the law works. Otherwise millions of innocent teenagers would have possession on their records because someone in the same car as them had weed in their pocket.

BTW, was Saban there when the arrest was made to see firsthand how much marijuana was found?
