Head coach Ed Orgeron didn't sugarcoat LSU's field goal kicking woes while speaking at his weekly radio show Wednesday night.

Orgeron simply told the audience, "We just don't have a field goal kicker."

LSU walk-on kicker Jack Gonsoulin and redshirt freshman Connor Culp are a combined 3-for-7 in field goals this season. Per The Advocate:
quote:

That's the worst mark through seven attempts since 2003. LSU's field goal kicking has excelled over the last decade. Tigers kickers made their first seven attempts in each 2013, 2014 and 2015. The four misses through five games is as many as kicker Colby Delahoussaye missed all of last season (11 of 15).

Gonsoulin has missed kicks of 34, 35 and 40 yards, and Culp missed a 47-yarder. Culp made a 49-yard field goal, and Gonsoulin made 29 and 23-yarders in the season opener.

The guy from St Amant was only the best punter and ft kicker in the south last year. Now tearing it up at USM. But yeah, the least of our troubles. Just win

Surprising how fast this became a "fire O" thread! You people really should put down your pitch forks for a minute and watch a little football, this is the time of year that we look forward to and it will be over before you know it.

Not watching is better than watching your team suck.

There was a great kicker at mandeville high that got a bama offer and no LSU offer

Kicker, O-Line, Coach...lots of holes on this team.

Is it really that we don't have a kicker or is that we don't have proper special teams coaching? I think it's the latter.

Good point, Louisianaboy87. Since we don’t have a special teams coach, the kickers have been left to work out themselves. Maybe it’s time to have someone working with them. I did here today that Culp will start against Florida and I think that’s a good decision. We’ll see.

Let Culp kick. He doesn't have the strongest leg, but everything he kicks is right down the middle. The kid is money from 35yd

That’s what I’m saying, too. Every game kick by Culp is straight with good trajectory. If it’s short, at least it had a chance. He made a 45 yarder earlier this season and was short(but straight) from 47. He kicked a 50 yarder in HS. Let him kick. He might get into a rhythm like Lutz did with the Saints. Better than watching Gonsoulin slice right or hook left right out of the gate.

I bet there is one in La.unless TCU or Bama has already taken them out of La.

Trust me, you don't want any kicker that Alabama wants.

If only he had a campus nearby with over 30,000 students to hold some kind of walk-on opportunity event..... hmmmmm..... im sure 1/30,000 could kick at least a 40 yd field goal

I saw Jack kick 50+ yarders at Catholic, while being ridiculously accurate. All of a sudden he forgets how to kick?

not use to having a million people watch him in the SEC

Happens a lot actually. Can't remember the guys name but LSU recruited and signed a guy (like 10+ years ago) that was unbelievable in HS but when he got to LSU he couldnt make a damn FG to sac his life. Somebody on the Rants got to know who im talking about, I just can't think of his name right now.

Won't need them to beat Florida and Bama. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

Because we won't be able to get in FG range to begin with against a real defense

Kid at Denham is money. All kickoffs through the end zone I think he kicked a 50 plus as a tenth grader Two weeks ago hit a 35 yd with .01 second left on the clock to win the game. Name is Jose I think, just a junior though

Confidence doesn’t win ballgames. Kicking the ball through the uprights does. If they can’t do it cull them and find someone who can. Your negative comments toward Coach O probably has had an effect on his coaching. Thanks PortHudsonPlaya.

I'd think kickers success or failure is 75% confidence. Way to go Oeaux.
