There are still plenty of things that can happen between now and next season but College Football News predicts that LSU will be No. 5 in the 2019 Top 25 rankings.

quote:

Your team isn’t on here? Give it a bit … there will be about 9,783 changes between now and the start of next season, here’s the first guess on who the top 25 teams of 2019 are going to be.
quote:

5. LSU Tigers
The defense loses some major stars who’ll be amazing at the next level, but the secondary that was so depleted in the Fiesta Bowl should be okay, and the line will be solid. QB Joe Burrow and the passing game will be even stronger, the receivers will be terrific, and the ground game will be better behind a veteran line that should dominate.

Ensminger is just coming into his own as an offensive coordinator. He's an innovator. Excited to see what next year brings.

I would have put LSU at number three. The offensive line will be significantly better because I believe Dare Rosenthal will emerge as a starter on the offensive line. Due to experience, the receiver corps will be far better and Joe Burrow will also be far better. Finally, with the infusion of two elite running backs in this years recruiting class, the running game will also be very significantly better. Hence, Steve Ensminger will be perceived as being an offensive guru next season because the LSU offense should be one of the best in the country. I also believe the defense will be better, as K'lavon will very significantly impact the pass rush defense and Jocoby Stevens will also start at Safety, and he has already demonstrated that he is as versatile as Grant Delpit. Hence, that will give Aranda far more weapons next season to affect the opposing offenses. I'm predicting 11 & 1 or 12 & 0 for 2019. As coach O is definitely bringing LSU back to elite status again. Heck, if we wouldn't have lost those two tight ends, Ingram and Taylor, and K'lavon last season, we would have finished 11 & 1 this season.

OL will be better just because of experience, and RBs will be better because of the OL and talent. IF Burrow follows the path that Mett and Etling did, he should be better, that just leaves the play calling and scheme. Considering Ensminger coming back and having to go to Texas, play a better UF team, a better Bama team, and a better TAMU team, i don't expect us to do much better in the win column. We'll likely finish 10-2 and then only have the QBs that Ensminger coached up left for the next few years. I best bet to go to the playoffs any time soon is next year.

I see nothing wrong with the ranking all we lose on the O line is Brum who missed about 1\2 the season, add Rosenthal, Wire and the new class..no impact WRs lost, upgrade at RB, QB coming back...ILB is deep, think Stingley will fill in at 2nd CB, and the D line should be deeper and better

LSU goes 6-2 before Bama and gets trounced by Bama to go 9-3. Excuses from the fans pour in, recruiting class for 2020 season gets hyped up....lather, rinse, repeat. Welcome to the Orgeron era.

I think the safe bet is we go 10-2 ultimately. I don't think they lose to both Texas and UForfeit, but likely one. I continue to believe the odds increasingly favor us to eventually beat bammer every year that we don't--it must end at some point. ATM could sneak up on us if Fisher grows that team into something like he once had at FA state. Yet, we could win every game, and I believe the team will believe that. Anything could happen in week two, and Mullen is a good coach with better recruiting, but UForfeit will walk into a hornet's nest with our first home game against them in years. Bammer is bammer of course, and then it depends on if Fisher will maintain mediocrity or eventually build a team like his better FA state teams.

Good or bad, block out the noise. It was the motto this year. It should be the motto next year. That being said, with the schedule and those returning good reason to be excited as fans.
