Why the hell does “please respect my decision” continue to be a thing? I never disrespect a kid’s decision to reopen their recruitment until I read that shite. It’s demanding, insecure and narcissistic. Why not just go with your first sentence and leave it at that?

These kids aren't Rhodes scholars....they see someone else put that and they think it sounds cool so they put it too. No leaders these days....just a lot of peer-pressured, mental midget snowflakes.

Please respect my disrespect for your lack of commitment.

I hate the “respect my decision”...respect is earned and you have done nothing to earn it. Just once can a recruit come out and say “I made a mistake in committing so soon and I wish to decommit to give myself more time to evaluate my options. I apologize for any inconvenience I have caused.” That would be a respect gaining statement in my book.

The kid can’t pick a fricking last name, how’s he supposed to choose a college?

#1—memo to recruits. Stop saying “respect my decision”. You all sound like a bunch of robots repeating each other. #2–the term “commitment” should not be used when a recruit says “at this point im going to _____ university.”

Well you're either a Tiger or you're Tigerbait. Nothing to respect or disrespect about that. It's just a fact.

The one thing that is never discussed is the pressure schools put on these kids. They know they have to commit to hold their spot, even if they aren’t quite ready. So it’s not just the kid we should blame, if we are being fair to all parties. Still, if you aren’t sure you shouldn’t lie to the school.

I think a lot of you look at these de-commitments from the wrong perspective. What if LSU which more than likely told him to look at other options? And in an effort to save face the kid makes it seem as if it was his decision to decommmit. No one ever questions LSU's commitment when they tell kids who commit they should look elsewhere.

Makes too much sense but hey....!

@bayoufann exactly what do they expect a teenager whose whole persona is based on their ability to complete at a high athletic level to say. "The head coach at such and such school told me they have found someone else higher up on their board respect the coaches decision"

If this is the case, why did LSU recruit him in the first place? Do they have an on-off switch in their recruiting program that they flip arbitrarily? When they first approached this recruit, was LSU sincere or disingenuous? It doesn't add up. If this is the case (LSU flipping and telling him to look elsewhere), it brings into question who really is the de-committer.

Just once, I want Coach O to tweet out, “Let Geaux of that Tiger!”

Why does every dumbass athlete always start off these statements with “first of all,” or “first and foremost?”

The word commitment is laughable at this point. It’s simple.... don’t “commit” until you can commit.

I dont respect aspiring adults who cant make up their minds or refuse to honor their word.

What about the ones that flip to LSU?

A simple.. "I didn't really know the true definition of the word commitment, therefore my talents are not committed no more."
