Four-star defensive tackle Shone Washington announced Sunday morning that he has de-committed from LSU's 2022 class and is reopening his recruitment.

Washington, a 6-4, 305-pound prospect from Warren Easton in New Orleans, originally committed to LSU in August of 2020 picking the Tigers over Alabama, Florida, and others.

I would take all of my visits as well if I were an elite level athlete. Of course I would have my hand out and take any bennies and perks that might be coming my way and then I would reaffirm my commitment to LSU.

In today’s climate, high school athletes pay attention to everything. One of their challenges is that many of them have too much information to process and some have very little help with guidance. That is where perennial systematic college/high school relationships help. As fans and supporters, we must ask ourselves what we can do to convince high school players take pride in their state, commit to our flagship university without wavering and help to recruit out of staters. LSU has no less to offer than Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Clemson and Alabama, annually. Programs that, consistently, recruit well have great systemic templates to attract and retain players. The coaches are often given too much credit and blame for recruiting. The LSU coaching staff, consistently, do the best they can. Fortunately and unfortunately, today’s players are paying attention to regional social and political climates, as well. As fan, let’s continue to do our part in making Louisiana a place our players would not want to leave. My niece graduated from a non-LSU SEC school with honors. I attended the graduation and stayed in a nearby hotel. Many people from the area came up to me asking me if I were a visitor with a recruit. I told them no and the reason I was visiting. They treated me with respect, hospitality, dignity and warm, just in case I was on a recruiting visit and because academics and life trumps the importance of everything university related. When that is placed first and a regional university system not only sells it, but consistently proves it, it makes it easier for coaches to sell, sign and retain top athletes, in and out of state. Just sayin!

For the top guys it’s all about the money. Corruption and payoffs is an understatement on the P5 level.

A teen ager with so many problems. Son you dont know what problems are yet. You still young. But its whatever. If decommtting from LSU is going to solve your problems so be it. Be gone with yourself. We only want young men here that want to be here. Next man up come on down.

I honestly laugh whenever someone says ‘boom’ anymore. There is no such thing as a commitment. Has been that way for several years. I’ll save any excitement for after signing day, then I’ll take a look at who we had sign, and research them then.

All one has to do is look at the backgrounds of some of these kids. Lets be honest and address the elephant in the room. Kids that grow up in the ghetto have hard lives. Im not being a racist. Im black. They come from broken homes, poerty and their only loyalty is that to a parent or parents or friends/gangs. They dont know or understand what a committment is. Some do. Some dont. And the bottom line is they young. Kids make impulsive decisions. Then for whatever reason they change their mind. So be it. Maybe our coaches need to consider this more when recruiting kids. Only time I get excited is when these kids suit up in LSU colors and play as hard as they can. Committments to play football is turning into a joke

I'm sure the Dodge dealerships in Baton Rouge, New Orleans or elsewhere in Louisiana have Dodge Chargers too. Get the Louisiana Boys some Chargers a la Bama!
