Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports
LSU landed a bigtime commitment on Tuesday night from 2020 pro-style quarterback TJ Finley from Ponchatoula, LA.

Finley, a 6-6, 225-pound prospect from Ponchatoula HS chose the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Louisville, and others.

He is the top-rated quarterback in Louisiana for the class of 2020.

This kid is the reason why I hate those prospect rating services how can you be the #1 QB prospect in your state and a top 10 QB in your class and be rated a 3* prospect. I bet if he was from Alabama he would be a 5* prospect and a top 3 QB in the country the disrespect that Louisiana prospects get from these national rating services is ridiculous. TJ Finley you're 2 years away from signing I just wish you stick to your commitment until then just ball out and grind and prove those rating services wrong. Welcome to the family.

His bump is coming. It’s already a done deal. He lit it up during camp circuits. Usually rec sites get together at certain times and review recruits a few times. I would bet he grades out around 92 range

Yeah, if Bama offered him, he is not a 3* talent. I think super-early commitments are stupid anyway though because these kids usually change their commitments 20 times when they commit somewhere two years before they graduate.

Closely resembles Jamarcus in his delivery and footwork. Can only get better I would think

would be great but i never understand why people bother thinking this is real or even newsworthy yet. 2 years out he will rethink his decision 25 times and may even change his mind so its not really real until he is ready to sign with the school so lets stop with the commitment reports about kids who arent even ready for college until 2 years from now

Even though the Surtain saga left us with a bad taste in our mouths we should start acting like adults on here and realize that players / recruits read this board and could use some positivity and encouragement from our fan base instead of the constant exact opposite that’s spewed almost daily.

Nothing will ever convince me that recruits read this board--or if they do, care one bit. But I agree with everything else.

@ Nix Guice definitely read the board in high school.

He'll decommit. Its part of the process in todays recruiting circuit. I just hope he recommits in February when it matters. The recruitment of this kid is far from over. I just hope LSU's coaching staff understands this. And keeps in contact with him on a daily basis. You got him committed. The goal is to keep him committed.

I may be one of the few, but I welcome his commitment. That year and a half will go by damn quickly and I look forward to seeing this young man run out of the tunnel in Tiger Stadium. Congrats on your commitment, TJ...you'll never regret that decision.

Can't be a bad thing at all. But 2020 is a long way away. And also, he's 6-6, 225 now? The kid could be a DL by 2020. Or the next Shaq! We'll see, but still excited for the kid!
